Eugene Springfield Fire Department Tours of North Campus 11/3/21, 11/9/21, and 11/10/21

When: November 3rd, 9th, and 10th, 2021 at 10:00 am

Building(s) or Area(s) Impacted: North Campus Area – CPFM Admin, Warehouse/Shops, Central Power Station, Zero Waste, and surrounding outbuildings.

Scope: Safety Committee members from CPFM along with Environmental Health and Safety representatives will be hosting fire fighters from the Eugene Springfield Fire District, Station 13 as they tour the North Campus area. The goal of the tours is to familiarize the ESFD employees with the various buildings and hazards in this area of campus, so they will be better prepared in the event that they are needed to respond to a fire, rescue, or medical issue.

Impacts: The tours will primarily be outdoors, but will include a walk-through of the shop areas in Building 130. An ESFD Fire engine and support vehicle will be parked next to the  Central Power Station throughout the duration of the tour. Tours are anticipated to last approximately 1 hour each.

Buildings North of ZIRC Steam Heat Shutdown 11/01/21

UPDATE 11/1 at 3:26 PM: Steam has been temporarily restored. Further investigation and steam shutdowns will be required to permanently resolve the problem, but notifications will be sent out.

UPDATE 11/1: The steam pipe repairs are more extensive than originally anticipated. Steam heat will be down to the buildings north of ZIRC, including the greenhouses, for an unknown amount of time. An update will be sent when the steam is restored.

UPDATE 11/1: The water was restored and the restrooms are back online.

UPDATE 11/1: Due to an unforeseen issue with the steam pipe, the domestic water to Building 136 will be off for an unknown amount of time. An update will be sent out as soon as we find out more. The water is still on at Building 130 so please use the bathrooms there.

CPFM Administration Quonset Water Line Damage Advisory 10/28/21

Scope:  A water line was broken by the contractors for ZIRC and has caused the domestic water to turn bright orange.  We have been told that the water will be turned off at some point during the day to make repairs, and this may take up to a 3 or 4 hours.  Updates will be sent as information is known.

  • Water will be discolored for a while.

Lillis Room 320 Water Leak Advisory 10/22/21

A water intrusion from overflowing roof drains has been identified in Lillis. It is currently known to be affecting room 320. Water containment and clean up response actions are underway including placing a fan to dry a small section of carpet.  Further updates will be sent as the situation develops.

Onyx Bridge Fire Alarm Testing Advisory 10/26/21 – 10/27/21

Testing:  Tuesday, October 26th, 2021 from 6:00 am – 7:00 am

Inspection:  Wednesday, October 27th, 2021 from 6:00 am – 7:00 am

Scope:  Fire alarm testing on Tuesday and fire alarm inspection on Wednesday will occur between 6:00 am and 7:00 am each day.

Services Impacted:

  • Horn strobes will be activated throughout the building.
  • Alarm activity will be loud.

Details:  Horns, Strobes, and Speakers on the fire alarm system will not sound after the scheduled time. Provisions have been taken to monitor the building fire systems during this time and alarms that occur after the scheduled time should be considered real events and occupants should evacuate as usual per the U of O Emergency Procedures.

UPDATE 10/29/21:
The elevator is now operational.  Your patience has been greatly appreciated throughout this extensive repair.

UPDATE 10/22/2021: Otis installed a new part and replaced the power supply and the elevator is still nonresponsive. Otis is working with Motion Control Engineering (the equipment manufacturer) on a solution.

UPDATE 10/15/21: Otis has to order parts to repair the elevator. These repairs will happen next week and an update will be sent out when the repairs are complete.

Lawrence Lift E271 Shutdown 10/13/21 – 9/11/23

UPDATE:
The demolition is complete, but the new lift is schedule to arrive and be installed September 5th through September 11th.  The loading dock at the north of Lawrence Hall will be impacted by this as well as the lift area itself.
