6/1/18-6/4/18: PeaceHealth Sidewalk Replacement

PeaceHealth will be replacing the sidewalk along Hilyard as it crosses the Alley entrance to the CMER building.  The work will begin on Friday, June 1st and should be completed by Monday, June 4th.

The East end of the alley and the CMER Access off of E 11th will remain open.

 

6/15: [STUDENT REC CENTER] HVAC Air Supply Shutdown Suites 90, 92, 190 & 192

Building Occupants,

Starting June 15, 2018, at 8:00 am the HRV-3 that serves the locker rooms in Suites 90, 92, 190 and 192 will be temporarily shut down while contractors HSW and Alliant seal existing duct work on the system. This will impact HVAC air supply. The Project Manager anticipates that services will be restored approximately 48 hours after the work is completed.

Message from CPFM UO Zero Waste Program

Campus Community,

The UO Zero Waste Program is in the process of updating the collection system on campus to reflect new marketing rules.

Please follow guidelines below and if it’s not on the list, please do not include it in recycling.

Here is an overview of the sorting/collection changes:

  • No change on paper or compost
  • Please remember that all cups go in the landfill category
  • Cartons of all kinds are no longer recyclable including milk type cartons and aseptic packaging such as drink boxes and other type of “boxes” such as soy milk, soup cartons and other larger types of food packaging boxes
  • Please ONLY recycle plastic bottles and jugs as follows:  Bottles are items where the opening is smaller than the base.  Jugs are items with handles
  • ALL other plastic is landfill including anything that was previously recyclable including:  plastic bags, plastic wrap, tubs (cottage cheese, yogurt, salsa etc…), lids and any other plastic items that are not a bottle or jug.

6/22/18: [LOKEY EDUCATION] Restroom Closures due to Plumbing Repairs

 Building Occupants,

Due to plumbing repairs Lokey Education Building Restrooms 172, 173, 272 and 273 will be temporarily closed on Friday, June 22, 2018, from 7:30 am – 2:00 pm.  This is necessary so crews can repair cracked and broken sewer lines under the building.

6/13: Klamath Hall Air Handler Maintenance

Campus Community,

On Wednesday, June 13, scheduled maintenance will be performed on the air handlers for Klamath Hall to change drive belts and inspect drive sheaves. This will impact the operation of fume hoods. The shut-downs are scheduled in two phases:

  1. North shut-downs will occur between 8:00a-10:00a, and will affect the North side of the building between the basement and the third floor.
  2. South shut-downs will occur between 10:00a-12:00p, and will affect the South side of the building between the basement and the third floor.

During the course of this scheduled shut-down the fume hoods will be non-operational. Please shut the fume hood sashes and close all chemical containers during the indicated times.

5/24: Huestis Hall HVAC Testing

Campus community,

On Thursday, May 24, Huestis Hall will undergo periodic testing of the building HVAC systems, which handle heating, cooling, and ventilation. This will cause brief interruptions in the climate control and ventilation throughout the building between the hours of 4:00p-5:30p. 5/11: [CMER] Generator Testing Causing Brief Power Outage

On Friday, May 11th, between 7:30 am and 8:30 am, PeaceHealth Property Managers and its contractors will be testing the generator at the CMER building.

Please make sure your backup systems are set up.

When testing happens, the power will be shut off to the entire building, and there will be 10 seconds between the time the power goes off, and the generator starts working. Power may go off a few times between 7:30 am and 8:30 am.

This testing and maintenance work is in addition to the regularly scheduled Saturday testing of the generator as there are maintenance requirements that must be completed.

5/10: [PEACEHEALTH] Fire Testing

Building Occupants,

PeaceHealth Property Managers, along with its contractors, will begin testing the fire alarm systems, lights and sprinklers at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 10th. They will also be conducting a walk-through of the entire building and going room to room to test smoke detectors.

5/19/18: Oregon Hall Electrical and Network Shutdown

Building Occupants,

As part of the Oregon Hall Renovations on Saturday, May 19, 2018, from 6:00 am – 3:30 pm contractors will be shutting down the 800A breaker in the Basement MDA Panel Labeled West Power/Lights.  This will impact lights, receptacles, and mechanical equipment that services the west portion of the building and network equipment in Room 225.  The Building Network system will be down, except for areas served by East Wing data rooms.  West side lighting, receptacles, mechanical equipment and the network will all be shut down during this time.

This work is necessary to allow for re-circuiting lights, receptacles and power to network equipment.

5/10 – 5/24: [BAKER, COLUMBIA, PACIFIC, LAWRENCE & VOLCANOLOGY] IS Contractor

Information Services is coordinating a project that is installing two-way booster equipment in telecom closets and mounting antennas in the ceiling grids in hallways.  This will enhance two-way radio coverage in basements for departments like UOPD.

There is a possibility that some noise with the equipment may be heard for approximately 20 minutes, but It should be minimal.

Due to a network issue related to the power outage this afternoon, the fume hoods in Cascade Hall are temporarily shut down until this issue can be resolved.  Fume hood sashes need to remain closed, and the fume hoods should not be used.

Now that Spring is upon us, and many projects and outdoor events across campus are planned, I’d like to take a moment to remind you that the campus landscape is a valuable asset to the University, one that is worth protecting just as any of our facilities are.  A few simple guidelines will help protect our trees, lawns, and plantings for the enjoyment and education of our students and campus visitors alike.

Follow driving guidelines Driving, and parking on lawns and landscape beds is permitted only with the approval of Campus Planning and Facilities Management.  Yes, even golf carts!

 

Use the EMU Scheduling Office for your outdoor event They will be able to assist you to make your event successful and avoid damaging practices like driving stakes into the ground and tying ropes to campus plants or fixtures
