10/30 – 11/1: Huestis Fume Hood System Shutdown

Building Occupants,

As part of the Huestis Hall 2nd Floor project, the fume hood system will be temporarily shut down from 4:00 PM Monday evening Oct 30, 2017, until 8:00 AM Wednesday morning November 1, 2017.

Special Instructions: Prior to 4:00 PM on the 30th, all hood sashes will need to be closed, and containers in hoods and on benches capped.

The system will be started back up an in advance to 8:00 AM to allow the system to be brought back up to operating conditions.

This will not impact the fume hoods in Lokey Laboratories.

10/18/17: Columbia Hall & Volcanology Intermittent Air Flow Disruptions

Building Occupants,

Due to scheduled preventative maintenance on October 18, 2017, from 8:00 am – 3:30 pm Columbia Hall and Volcanology will experience intermittent air flow disruptions throughout the day.  This work will impact the entire building while crews change filters in air handling units.

Special Instructions for Columbia:  The fume hood sashes need to be closed, and lab doors should be open for makeup air.  Fume Hoods will remain operational during this time.

9/21/17: Huestis Heating and Cooling Supply Air Shutdown

Building Occupants,

On Thursday, September 21, 2017, the heating and cooling supply air will be temporarily shut down in Huestis while contractors replace a building fan.  This shutdown will begin at 6:00 am and last for one day.

Special Instructions:  When SF 1A and 1B are shut down for the day, it will affect the supply air to the below-listed rooms. This will not shut down fume hood exhaust, but because there will not be supply air, these steps need to be followed in the fume hoods.

  1. Seal all open chemical storage in the fume hood.
  2. Keep fume hood sash closed during the shutdown period.

1st Floor: 111, 111A, 111B, 111C, 129, 129A, 129B, 129C

2nd Floor:  209, 209A, 209B, 209C, 211A, 227A, 229A, 233B, 233C, 233D, 233E

8/30/17: Instructions for Klamath Hall, Cascade Hall and the Science Library Fume Hoods During Preventative Maintenance Work

On Wednesday, August 30, 2017, from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm CPFM Personnel will be performing preventative maintenance on the air handlers that service Klamath Hall, Cascade Hall, and the Science Library.  During the hours listed, please keep lap doors open for make-up air to the fume hoods.

The system will be restarted prior to 8:00 AM to allow it to be brought back up to operating conditions. This will affect all the fume hoods in Huestis Hall except for the hoods in Lokey Labs.

Klamath Hall Fume Hood Preventative Maintenance 3/29/17

Building Occupants,

Due to scheduled preventative maintenance on Wednesday, March 29th, 2017,  Klamath Hall building occupants should expect shutdowns on the North side (basement and 3rd floor) fume hoods from 8:00 am – 11:30 am and South-side fume hoods (basement and 3rd floor) from 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm.

For lab safety fume hood sashes must be in the down position during this scheduled annual maintenance.

3/25/17-4/1/17: Klamath Hall 2nd Floor Fume Hood Shutdown

Building Occupants for Klamath 2nd Floor ONLY,

On Saturday, March 25th through Saturday, April 1st, 2017, fume hood exhaust air will be shut down for the north and west portion of the 2nd floor of Klamath.   Fume hood sashes will need to remain closed and containers within the hoods need to remain sealed.

The fume hood exhaust in the Nolen and Prehoda lab spaces will remain active and available to others for use during the shutdown.

See the attached diagram highlighting in the shaded blue area the spaces and fume hoods that will be impacted.

The work will be performed by GBC Construction.

03/08/2017: Notice Willamette Preventative Maintenance

Building Occupants,

Due to scheduled preventative maintenance on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 Willamette, building occupants should expect shutdowns on the East-side fume hoods and West-side air supply from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm and West-side fume hoods and East-side supply air from 12:30 pm – 3:30 pm.  For lab safety fume hood sashes must be in the down position during this scheduled annual maintenance.
