Streisinger Hall Domestic and Industrial Water Shutdown 6/3/20

Begin: Wednesday, June 3rd, 2020 at 7:30 am

Building(s) or Area(s) Impacted: Streisinger Hall

Scope: Removal of two backflow assemblies that are not needed.

Services Impacted:

  • This will impact all domestic hot and cold fixtures, and all industrial hot and cold fixtures. This includes autoclave steam, fume hoods, sinks, restrooms, and drinking fountains.
  • RO will not be impacted.

Huestis Hall Exhaust System Shutdown 6/8/20 – 6/10/20

2nd UPDATE 6/11/20 3:11 pm:  The fans are back up and running normally.

 

UPDATE:

The fan is currently running under test mode, but the system is NOT operational at this time.  Testing will continue tomorrow, with the possibility that the shutdown may extend into Thursday.  A notice will be sent when the system is back up and running.

Scope:  Replace failed Lab Exhaust Fan controls.

Services Impacted:

  • This shutdown will disable the lab exhaust air for all fume hoods in the building.
  • There will be intermittent interruptions to the building general exhaust system as well, including the Cage Wash exhaust.

Special InstructionsAll fume hoods should be closed and the containers in the fume hoods sealed prior to Monday morning 6/8/20.

UPDATE 4/16/20:  The electrical shutdown has been delayed until a later date due to the University’s response to the social distancing recommendations.  The revised date is TBD and will be decided as the CoVid-19 protocols change over the coming weeks.

Scope: The electrical infrastructure improvement project needs to supply existing bus-duct with a new power source.

Services Impacted:

  • Power and building systems will be offline, except for the third floor.
  • This will affect electrical, exhaust, fume hoods, heating, HVAC, lab vacuum, and chilled water.

Extra Notes: Contractors can/will provide temporary power to freezers and high priority equipment. Please contact us prior to the shutdown if temporary power is needed.

Special Instructions:

  • Please close fume hood sashes the night before.
  • Please shut down all multi-function copier devices as well as any printers during scheduled power outages. The software on these machines can be negatively affected due to the power surge when power is turned back on, a power surge can corrupt the clone files in the machines, and can change preconfigured settings.

Onyx Bridge Fume Hood Shutdowns 3/25

Begin:  March 25, 2020 9:00 am

End:  March 25, 2020 4:00 pm

Building(s) or Area(s) Impacted:  ONYX BRIDGE – BUILDING WIDE FUME HOODS

Scope:  Fume hoods that serve ONYX Bridge need service requiring new belts alignments and inspections. The mechanical shop will be working through the building shutting down fume hoods. Each unit will only be down for thirty minutes or less.  Spring Break was selected to minimize impact to labs.

Services Impacted:  This will impact rooms 165, 168, 169, 170, 269, 270, 282, 367, 368, 371, 372, 379, 380, 461, 464, 466, 467, 468, 469A, 470 and restrooms fans.  While we have spent some time researching the impact if your room is not listed there is a chance it may still go offline.

Klamath Hall Electrical Shutdown 2/27/2020

Scope:  Electrical conduits will be removed in the 3rd floor renovation area.

Services Impacted:  The following systems will be shut down

  • Fume hood exhaust with the exception of the occupied south half of the 3rd floor.
  • Building controls panel PXCM134.6.

Notes:

  • The 3rd floor fire alarm panel will be in test mode.
  • The contractor will provide temporary power to the 3rd floor data equipment.
  • Work will be performed by Lease Crutcher Lewis.

Streisinger HVAC Shutdown 3/23/20 – 3/25/20

UPDATE 3/25/2020: At 3:00pm today BAS will need to cycle a few alarm points in the BAS system.  This may cause a short (5 minute) interruption.

UPDATE:  The Streisinger HVAC shut down will be extended until tomorrow morning at 9:00 am.

HVAC will be brought back on line at that time and monitored throughout the day.

Pacific Hall HVAC Emergency Shutdown 2/3/2020

UPDATE:  All systems are back online.

Building or Area Impacted:  Pacific Hall

Scope:  Unscheduled emergency shutdown of all HVAC systems.  System requiring a reboot.

Services Impacted:  All fume hoods, general exhaust, heating and cooling systems.

Extra Notes:  Duration is unknown – could be 5 minutes to 30 minutes, depending how each item comes back online.

Special Instructions:  All users need to close their fume hoods and seal containers.

Klamath Hall Shutdowns 1/20/2020

1) Exhaust plenums and fans

Date:  Monday, January 20, 2020 (MLK Jr. Day) 5:00 am to 5:00 pm

Scope:  Shutdown of the north and south exhaust plenums and fans impacting the whole building. This shutdown is to achieve the following and take advantage of the campus closure for MLK day.

  1. Disconnect ductwork for the second floor renovation area.
    2. Disconnect ductwork for phase two of level three renovation.
    3. Connect the exhaust fans to new power.

Services Impacted:  Exhaust and fume hoods throughout the building

Special InstructionsPlease close all fume hood sashes prior to the shutdown.

 

2)  Heating water

Date:  Monday, January 20, 2020 (MLK Jr. Day) 5:00 am to 3:30 pm

Scope:  Shutdown of heating water that will impact level two north and level three north.  The shutdown is to isolate renovation areas on both levels and take advantage of the campus closure for MLK day.

Services Impacted:  Heating affecting Level 2 North and Level 3 North

Extra Notes:  Temporary electric heaters will be provided to warms rooms on level two.

 

3)  Steam

Date:  Monday, January 20, 2020 (MLK Jr. Day) 5:00 am to 3:30 pm

Scope:  The steam shutdown is to isolate renovation areas on both levels two and three and take advantage of the campus closure for MLK day.

Services Impacted:  Shutdown of steam that will impact the full building.

 

4)  Supply fan 4

Date:  Monday, January 20, 2020 (MLK Jr. Day) 5:00 am to 5:00 pm

Scope:  Shutdown of supply fan 4 that will impact the north half of Level 2 North and Level 3 North.. The shutdown is to re-sheave the fans for the renovations on both levels two and three taking advantage of the campus closure for MLK Jr. Day.

Services Impacted:  Supply air that will impact Level 2 North and Level 3 North.

Onyx Bridge Water Shutdown 1/21/2020

Building Impacted:  Onyx Bridge

Scope:  Repair is needed on domestic cold water line located in rooms 371/372 (see corroded pipe image below).

Services Impacted:  Building wide water shutdown affecting hot and cold water in restrooms, drinking fountains, autoclave steam, fume hoods, industrial hot and cold water.

Extra Notes:  RO/DI water will not be affected.

Willamette Hall Fume Hood Shutdown 11/19/19 plus Yearly Maintenance 11/18/19 – 11/22/19

Beginning Monday, November 18th from 8:30 am through Friday, November 22nd, the preventative maintenance crew will be changing out filters and belts for Willamette Hall’s yearly maintenance.  This will impact the whole building as most filters will be done live, and then each motor will be shut down just long enough to replace belts.

During this process on Tuesday, November 19th, fume hoods will be shut down beginning at 9:00 am and will be back up and operational by 12:00 noon.

Work will be performed by the CPFM Preventative Maintenance Crew.

Klamath Hall Fume Hood Emergency Shutdown 11/8/19

On Friday, November 8th, from 7:00 am to 10:00 am, there will be an emergency fume hood shutdown to adjust the Klamath Hall fume hood drive belts.  Supply air must remain on during this time.

Pacific Hall South Wing Labs Air and Water Shutdown 11/4/19

On Monday, November 4th, from 8:00 am to 9:00 am, the air handlers, heating water system, and chilled water system will be shutdown for approximately 30 minutes.  This will affect all south wing labs on the basement, first and second floors, south of hallway 108.

Work will be performed by Siemens.

Klamath Hall Fume Hood Shutdown 9/27/19

On Friday, September 27th, from 6:00 am to 12:00 noon, contractors will be accessing the north exhaust plenum on the Klamath roof to build a barrier.  This will allow them to safely work in the shaft and avoid multiple shutdowns.  To enter the plenum, the north exhaust fans have to be shut off for safety reasons.

The evening prior to the shutdown, Thursday September 26th, please close all fume hood sashes in the north half of the building, for all floors.

Huestis Hall Planned Industrial Water Shutdown 8/27/19

Backflow assembly repairs on Tuesday, August 27 from 8 – 10 a.m., will require shutting down all industrial water to lab sinks (including hot water), auto claves, cage washers, and flue hoods during this two-hour period. Domestic hot and cold water will operate normally throughout the building, so building occupants will not be impacted.

CPFM plumbers will perform this work.

Klamath Hall: South Side Exhaust Shutdown 7/11/19

On Thursday, July 11th, from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm, general lab exhaust and fume hood exhaust will be offline to the south half of the building for all floors during this time.

Contractors need to access the south exhaust plenum on the roof to revise existing 2nd floor EF-2 ductwork, re-sheave the existing south exhaust fans to accommodate the connection of EF-2, then test & balance the new connection.  To enter the plenum the south exhaust fans have to be off for safety.

The evening prior to the shutdown, this Wednesday July 10th, fume hood sashes need to be closed in the south half of the building for all floors.

As part of renovations, contractors need to access the north exhaust plenum on the roof to Install plenum separation for work related to the third-floor project. To enter the plenum, the northern exhaust fans have to be off for safety. The new separation will allow access as needed without additional exhaust fan shutdowns.

General lab exhaust and fume hood exhaust will be offline to the north half of the building for all floors on Monday, June 17th, for a seven-hour duration (5 am – 12 pm) at most.  Work will be performed by Lease Crutcher Lewis.

Special Instructions:

Prior to the shutdown fume hood sashes need to be closed in the north half of the building for all floors.

HVAC Service and Inspection at Innovation Center 1900 Millrace 2/12

Building Occupants,

On Tuesday, February 12 from 7:30 am – 4:00 pm Facilities Services will be performing equipment service and inspection of all the HVAC related building systems. This will affect the fume hoods throughout the building and will require fume hood related projects suspended during this time. Technicians will access rooms 113N and 113S.

Klamath Hall Exhaust Air Shutdown Saturday 2/2

Building Occupants,

Fan equipment preparations for the duration of 3rd-floor construction providing proper air balancing throughout the building is scheduled for Saturday, February 2, 2019, from 7:00 am – 4:00 pm.
Fume hood sashes need to be closed on the evening before, Friday, February 1st.

Fume hood exhaust air and general lab exhaust air will be offline to the south half of the building for all floors.

Supply air to levels 2 and 3 will be offline, and temperatures variations are likely.

Pressure variations in the entire building during the shutdown.

Klamath Hall Fume Hood and Air Supply Shutdown 1/23

As part of the renovations, the south half of Klamath (all floors) will not have exhaust air on January 23 from 4:00 am – 6:00 am. Fume hood sashes need to be closed on the evening before, January 22. Second and third floors of Klamath will not have air supply during this time.

Klamath Hall Fume Hood Shutdown Due to Flow Issues 9/26

Safety and Risk Services reported occupants are experiencing fume hood flow problems in Klamath Hall Facilities Crews need to do an emergency shutdown Wednesday, September 26 from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm (noon) to adjust and replace belts on exhaust fans on the north and south roof.

All hood sashes need to be closed prior to 8 am and experiments terminated.  Containers in hoods and on benches containing chemicals need to be capped.

Klamath Hall Fume Hood and HVAC Air Supply Shutdown 10/6

Building Occupants,

On Saturday, October 6, 2018, there will be two shutdowns in Klamath Hall between the hours of 6:00 am – 6:00 pm. Fume hoods in rooms B20, B83, 05, 109, 118, 169, 171, 189, 215, 215E, 292B, 305, 307, 311, 381, 390A, 390B and 390D need sashes to be shut down Friday, 10/5 for preparation.

The first portion of work (approx. 6-10am) will impact the supply air for the north half of the ground floor and the south half of the first floor. During this time the flow of supply air will be reduced.

The second portion of work (approx. 10am-6pm) will impact select fume hoods connected to exhaust fans 3 & 4 which will be shut down. Again, impacted fume hoods are in rooms B20, B83, 05, 109, 118, 169, 171, 189, 215, 215E, 292B, 305, 307, 311, 381, 390A, 390B and 390D need sashes to be shut down Friday, 10/5 for preparation

Due to preventative maintenance on the building mechanical systems, the air supply to the building will be temporarily shut down July 20, 2018, from 7:30 am – 1:00 pm. This will impact air, heating, cooling and fume hoods in rooms 113N, 113S, 114, 116, and 120.

Due to a network issue related to the power outage this afternoon, the fume hoods in Cascade Hall are temporarily shut down until this issue can be resolved.  Fume hood sashes need to remain closed, and the fume hoods should not be used.
