4/23/24 – 4/26/24 McKenzie Hall Emergency AHU-5 and AHU-6 HVAC Shutdown

Building(s) or Area(s) Affected:  McKenzie Hall

Scope:  The drives have failed on the supply air of AHU-6 and the return air of AHU-5.  Parts are on hand and repair work has already begun.  Both units are expected to be brought online by the end of the day on Friday, 4/26/24.  An update will be sent if services are restored earlier than 5:00 pm.

Services Impacted:  This will affect the heating and cooling on the northside of the building on floors 2 through 4.  There is still air flow, but the heating and cooling will be limited.  Impacts should be minimal and intermittent.

3/11/24 – 3/14/24 Oregon Hall Chilled Water Shutdown

Scope:  Due to the installation of a new chilled water meter, the building air conditioning will be shut down.

Services Impacted:

  • This will affect the Oregon Hall Main Building Only.
  • This shutdown will NOT affect the Oregon Hall Data Center!
  • This work is planned during winter weather and will have little to no impact on building users.
  • Work will take place in the utility tunnel.

1/09/24 and 1/12/24 Huestis Hall and Lokey Labs Fume Hoods, Exhaust, HVAC Air Supply and Fire Alarm System Shutdown

1st Day:             Tuesday, January 9, 2024, from 7:00 am until 4:00 pm

2nd Day:           Friday, January 12, 2024, from 7:00 am until 4:00 pm

Building(s) or Area(s) Affected:  Huestis Hall and Lokey Labs

Scope:

  • Huestis Hall: On Tuesday 1/9 and again on Friday 1/12 from 7:00 am – 4:00 pm, air and exhaust systems will be offline in the basement as the temporary AHU and exhaust fans are removed and final connections to building AHU units and lab exhaust fans are reconnected. User access to Huestis rooms 6, 12 and 13 should be limited or avoided during this shutdown.
  • Lokey Labs and Huestis Hall:  On Tuesday, 1/9 from 7:00 am until 4:00 pm, the fire alarm system will be offline to Huestis and Lokey Labs during this shutdown. Contractor will provide fire watch.

Services Impacted:  This will affect exhaust, fire alarm systems, fume hoods, heating, cooling, and the HVAC air supply.  Fume hood sashes should be closed and containers within the fume hoods sealed prior to this date.

Details:  Horns, Strobes, and Speakers on the fire alarm system will not sound after the scheduled time. Provisions have been taken to monitor the building fire systems during this time and alarms that occur after the scheduled time should be considered real events and occupants should evacuate as usual per the U of O Emergency Procedures.

Scope:  An emergency shut down of the air conditioning has occurred in the rooms listed.  Repairs are being made and the system is expected to be back online around noon tomorrow.  An update will be sent when services have been restored.

10/18/23 Lawrence Hall Electrical Shutdown

To ensure a smooth transition back into the school day, the electrical shutdown has been rescheduled for Wednesday, October 18th.  The time will remain the same (5:00 am to 7:00 am).

Building(s) or Area(s) Affected:  Lawrence Hall

Scope:  New electrical panel in Lawrence 188 must be tied in to existing, main electrical panel in Lawrence Hall.  Work will be performed early in the morning.

Services Impacted:  This will shutdown the lighting, electrical outlets, elevators, BAS controls fire alarm panels and IT closets within the building.

Special Instructions:  Please shut down and unplug all multi-function copier devices as well as any printers during scheduled power outages. 7/25/23 Knight Library Air Conditioning Shutdown

Scope:  The air conditioning for the library will be temporarily shut down the morning of July 25th to accommodate renovations occurring in the basement.

Services Impacted:  The air conditioning to the building will be offline except the Special Collections system and a few other areas of the library will remain functional.  The entire system is expected to be on again by midday.

Scope:  As part of the Huestis Renovation project, the steam and condensate to the Zebrafish Facility in the basement of Huestis Hall will be offline. This will also require the shutdown of equipment LEF 1&2, AHU 1&2, Willamette Hall supply and exhaust fan to quarantine. Dish and rack washing will be affected and scheduled off during this period.

Services Impacted:  This will affect the heating systems, exhaust, HVAC air supply, and steam condensate.

Scope:  A water intrusion was found on the 2nd floor and Air Handling Unit 5 was determined to be the source. AHU-5 has been shut down to stop the water intrusion and will be off until repairs can be made. This will impact the cooling in the building.

Services Impacted:  Users may notice a difference in building cooling throughout the day.
