Onyx Bridge East Elevator Out of Service 6/18/20 – 6/19/20, 6/23/20 – 6/26/20

UPDATE 6/26/20:

The elevator has been repaired and is back in service.

 

REVISED UPDATE 6/23/20:

The OTIS technician discovered the East elevator’s motherboard for the controller needs to be replaced.  A new one has been ordered and is expected to arrive at the beginning of next week.

Please see the map below for alternate elevators that are available during this time.

A notice will be sent when service has been restored.

UPDATE 6/23/20:

The East elevator will be shut down for a short time today while OTIS replaces parts.  A notice will be sent when the elevator is back in service.

Please use the West elevator during this time.

UPDATE:

The east elevator has been returned to service.

Feeder 3 Electrical Shutdown 6/11/20

2nd REVISION:  The Hayward Cell Tower is no longer on Feeder 3.

1st REVISION:  Klamath Hall will not lose power during this shutdown.

Scope:  Remove existing pad mounted transformer serving Klamath Hall.  Disconnect the existing transformer and install new load breaks to connect to Feeder 3.

Services Impacted:  Klamath Hall and buildings served by feeder 3 will not have power for three hours unless the buildings have a source of emergency power.

Klamath Hall Electrical Outage 6/4/20

Elevator Update 6/4/20:  The Onyx Bridge East elevator will continue to be shut down until tomorrow morning, Friday, June 5th, 2020, due to an unexpected delay from the contractor.

2nd UPDATE 6/4/20:  Shutdown work is progressing much slower than predicted due to some unforeseen conditions.  The shutdown could extend as late as 11pm tonight.

1st UPDATE 6/3/20: The Onyx East elevator will be shut down from 4:00 pm today until 5:00 pm tomorrow, 6/4/2020, due to the Klamath Hall power outage.

 

Begin: Thursday, June 4th, 2020 at 5:00 am

End: Thursday, June 4th, 2020 at 5:00 pm  until possibly 11:00 pm

Scope: Existing electrical infrastructure needs connected to new electrical gear.

Services Impacted: The basement, ground floor, first floor, and second floor will be without power during this time.

Extra Notes: Temporary power can be provided to critical equipment. Please notify Denise Stewart with locations of critical equipment requiring temporary power.

Special Instructions: Please shut down all multi-function copier devices as well as any printers during scheduled power outages. The software on these machines can be negatively affected due to the power surge when power is turned back on, a power surge can corrupt the clone files in the machines, and can change preconfigured settings.

Lawrence Hall Electrical Shutdown 6/12/20

Begin:  Friday, June 12th, 2020 at 7:00 am

Scope:  Transformer repair requiring an 8 hour electrical shut down.

Services Impacted:  Building power will be turned off at the main transformer during this time.  This includes elevators and the HVAC system.

Special Instructions:  Please shut down all multi-function copier devices as well as any printers during scheduled power outages. Friendly Hall Elevator Installation Project 5/18/20 – 12/31/20

Begin: Monday, May 18th, 2020

End: Thursday, December 31st, 2020

Building or Area Impacted: North end of Friendly Hall. (Refer to attached plans.)

Scope: Construction for the installation of an elevator in Friendly Hall is scheduled to begin May 18, 2020 with demolition activity. The north end of the building will be contained within a Spring and Summer construction zone – see attached plans showing the construction zone areas of each floor. The attached floor plans diagram the location of the elevator transposed over existing room layouts.

Services Impacted: There will be limited by appointment only access to the construction zone area during spring and summer months.

Cascade Hall Elevator Shutdown 3/12/20

Update 3/13/2020: The repairs needed are more extensive than originally thought and the repair date is currently unknown. We will provide an update as soon as possible. In the meantime, please contact us with any questions.

Deschutes Hall Elevator Shutdown 3/11/20 – 3/18/20

Update 3/19/2020: The elevator repairs have been completed.

Update 3/17/2020: The repairs were not able to be completed today and will be resumed tomorrow morning, Wednesday, March 18th, 2020.

Update 3/16/2020: The part needed for repairs arrived today in the late afternoon and will be installed tomorrow. The elevator should be up and running by 5:00 pm on Tuesday, March 17th, 2020.

Oregon Hall Service Elevator Shutdown 2/20/2020

1600 Millrace Elevator Out of Order 2/4/2020

UPDATE:  OTIS just notified the Work Control Center that the broken starter contact in the elevator has been replaced but the elevator is still unresponsive.  Otis is currently working with tech support.  We do not have an estimated time yet as to when the elevator will be operational.  We will continue to send updates as information is received.

1600 Millrace Elevator Shutdown 1/28/2020

Scope: The repairs to the elevator were not able to be completed today.

Services Impacted: The elevator will be shutdown throughout the night and will resume service tomorrow.

Extra Notes: Out of order signs have been posted and the Otis Elevator technician will resume repairs first thing tomorrow.

Onyx East Elevator Closure 12/24 – 12/26 & 12/31 – 1/2

Building Occupants,

To ensure building security over the holiday, the Onyx east elevator will be closed on the following dates/times:

 

  • 12/24 11:00 AM through 12/26 7:00 AM
  • 12/31 at 5:00 PM through 1/2  7:00 AM

The Onyx west elevator and the Willamette Hall elevators are not impacted by this closure.

Baker Freight Elevator Shutdown 11/8/19

Update 11/18: All repairs have been completed and the elevator is now operational.

 

Update 11/15: The parts have been installed and new relays are on order. The Otis technician is trouble shooting the water issue and plans to have all repairs completed by November 22nd.

 

The freight elevator is currently being worked on, and parts are expected sometime in the middle of next week.   The other elevator requires a key to operate it.  Please contact the building manager if you need access.

Hendricks Hall Electrical Shutdown 11/5/19

On Tuesday, November 5th, from 6:00 am to 7:00 am, the electrical system will be shut down, affecting most of the building, including the elevator.  This will allow time for technicians to install parts in an electrical panel.

Building occupants need to shut down their computers the night before.

Onyx Bridge East Elevator Shutdown 10/22/19

Update 10/23:

The Otis technician received the parts and repaired the elevator. It is now operational.

 

The East elevator has malfunctioned. The Otis technician determined they need to order parts in order to make repairs. While repairs are being made, please use the Onyx West elevator or the elevator in Pacific Hall. We will send out an update as soon as we have a better idea of when the East elevator will be operational again.

Oregon Hall Freight Elevator Hallway and Loading Dock Entrance Shutdown 10/7/19-12/31/19

4th Update: Postponement

Construction activities for the elevator project will be complete by December 31st and the entrance/exit from the loading dock, through lobby L140, will reopen then.

3rd Update: Postponement

Due to unforeseen site conditions, the entrance/exit from the loading dock will remain closed for more drilling to occur.

 

2nd Update:  Noise Advisory for Monday, October 7th

The elevator contractor will be cutting concrete and using a jack hammer to remove the item that needs to be replaced. This activity will take the whole day for the purposes of the notice, however, we anticipate it may be closer to 4 hours.

 

1st Update:  Postponement

This work has been postponed until Monday 10/7 through 10/15 11/4

 

On Monday, September 30th October 7th at 7:00 am until Monday, October 8th October 15th November 4th Mid December 31st, the entrance/exit from the loading dock, through lobby L140, will be closed.  This will allow for drilling activities associated with the jack replacement for the freight elevator modernization.  Please use entrances located along 13th Ave on the South side of the building.  We apologize for any inconvenience.

Oregon Hall Freight Elevator Noise Advisory 9/12/19

On Thursday, September 12th, from 7:00 am to approximately 2:00 pm, there will be noise associated with the removal of the shaft on the freight elevator in the NE section of the building.

Work will be performed by Preferred Construction and OTIS Elevator.

TODAY: Oregon Hall Elevators 1 and 2 Annual Testing 8/28

2ND REVISION:

This morning, August 28, elevator technicians are conducting annual testing on the two Oregon Hall elevators. One elevator will always be available for building users, as the units will be shut down in intervals for assessment.

REVISED 8/26/19:

The crew doing annual elevator testing has been held up on another job and will not be evaluating the Oregon Hall elevators this morning. The crew will be on campus throughout this week, however, and will test the elevators another day.

Building occupants will always have one elevator available, since the elevators will be shut down for testing one at a time at different intervals.
