CPFM Physical Plant Warehouse and Shops (Bldg 130) Chilled Water Shutdown 4/8/2020

Building or Area Impacted: CPFM Physical Plant Warehouse and Shops (Bldg 130)

Scope: The chilled water lines for Bldg 130 will be shut off in order to make new connections to the building.

Services Impacted: During this time of year, there should be little to no temperature disruption to occupants, and chilled water will be back on by the end of the day.

UPDATE 4/16/20:  The electrical shutdown has been delayed until a later date due to the University’s response to the social distancing recommendations.  The revised date is TBD and will be decided as the CoVid-19 protocols change over the coming weeks.

Building or Area Impacted: Klamath Hall – Basement through the 2nd Floor

Scope: The electrical infrastructure improvement project needs to supply existing bus-duct with a new power source.

Services Impacted:

  • Power and building systems will be offline, except for the third floor.
  • This will affect electrical, exhaust, fume hoods, heating, HVAC, lab vacuum, and chilled water.

Extra Notes: Contractors can/will provide temporary power to freezers and high priority equipment. Please contact us prior to the shutdown if temporary power is needed.

Special Instructions:

  • Please close fume hood sashes the night before.
  • Please shut down all multi-function copier devices as well as any printers during scheduled power outages. The software on these machines can be negatively affected due to the power surge when power is turned back on, a power surge can corrupt the clone files in the machines, and can change preconfigured settings.

Loss of Cooling for West Side of Lillis 2/21/2020-3/13/2020

UPDATE 3/12/20: The repairs are complete and cooling has been restored.

UPDATE 2/27/20:  The repair is more extensive than expected and will most likely be completed by Friday, March 13th.

Update 2/26/20: The parts have still not arrived so the shutdown has been extended to Friday.

Scope: The 6” chilled water line has burst. The pipe to replace the broken section has been ordered and repairs will be made upon its arrival.  Because of the scope of the repairs, the repairs may be finished on Monday or may take until Wednesday to be completed.

Services Impacted: This will affect the cooling to the entire West side of the building.

Streisinger HVAC Shutdown 3/23/20 – 3/25/20

UPDATE 3/25/2020: At 3:00pm today BAS will need to cycle a few alarm points in the BAS system.  This may cause a short (5 minute) interruption.

UPDATE:  The Streisinger HVAC shut down will be extended until tomorrow morning at 9:00 am.

HVAC will be brought back on line at that time and monitored throughout the day.

Special Instructions:  All fume hoods need to be closed and all containers within the fume hoods should be closed as well.

Johnson Hall Building-Wide Water Shutdown 2/21/2020

Chilled Water & Cooling Shutdown Impacting All of Huestis, Willamette, Klamath Hall, Onyx Bridge and Streisinger Hall 1/13 – 2/12

Update 2/5/20 from Denise Stewart – In order to insulate the piping so it will not sweat/condense when the chilled water is turned back on, this shutdown has been extended. The work is expected to be completed on Wednesday, February 12th.

Update 1/13/20 8:20 pm: From Jim Cody, Associate Director of Facilities Services:

Chilled water will be off to Klamath, Onyx Bridge, Streisinger, Huestis, and Willamette, including all processed cooling water loops until approximately noon on Tuesday, January 14th. Contractors are working overnight to install a bypass to allow most buildings to receive chilled water. Klamath and Onyx Bridge will continue to be without chilled water until the February 7th date identified in the initial shutdown.

Scope:  As part of the 3rd-floor renovation, we need an extended chilled water shutdown to replace piping in the basement of Klamath Hall. We have selected January 13 through February 7 12 to perform the work and the shutdown during a period the outside air temperatures are cool, and the demand for cooling of spaces is least likely.

Special Instructions:

If you find that a cooling source is needed, please contact the Owners Rep (Denise Stewart) who can provide temporary measures. The Owners Rep is currently planning to provide supplemental cooling to the Human Anatomy Lab, Klamath B53.

The below plan shows the area of work in the Klamath basement outside of mechanical spaces.

Pacific Hall South Wing Labs Air and Water Shutdown 11/4/19

On Monday, November 4th, from 8:00 am to 9:00 am, the air handlers, heating water system, and chilled water system will be shutdown for approximately 30 minutes.  This will affect all south wing labs on the basement, first and second floors, south of hallway 108.

Work will be performed by Siemens.

HEDCO Chilled Water Shutdown 8/20/19

Facilities Services has discovered that both chilled water pumps in HEDCO have failed. FS Mechanics expect to have the pumps up and running by the end of the day. There will be no cooling in the building during this time period, but CPFM has a limited number of box fans available to loan out. Rainier Water Fountains & Break-Room Sinks Out of Service 8/2/19

On Friday, August 2, 2019, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) will be staging and sampling drinking fountains in the Rainier Building for drinking-water monitoring. All drinking fountains and break-room sinks will be tagged and left idle from 9:30 AM until approximately 4:00 PM. Units will return to service after EHS has collected the samples.

Please do not use any tagged fixtures.

University Health, Counseling and Testing Center Chilled Water Shutdown 7/25

Onyx Bridge Chilled Water Shutdown Impacting Cooling 6/27 7pm – 6/28 5am

Facilities Liaisons,

Revisions to the existing piping in the basement are needed in association with the Klamath 3rd Floor Renovation. This will impact cooling to the east half of Onyx Bridge on floors 1, 2 and 3.

An evening outage was coordinated is to reduce the impact to the occupants.

The controlled temperature (CT) rooms will not be impacted.

University Health Center Water Shutdown 6/10/19-6/11/19

On Monday evening, June 10th from 6:00 pm until Tuesday morning, June 11th at 6:00 am, domestic hot/cold and chilled water will be shutdown to make utility connections for the new addition.

Utilities and Energy will temporarily shut down the chilled water to Esslinger and Student Rec Center on March 14 from 7:00 am – 5:00 pm while S2 Mechanical makes necessary repairs.  This will impact services utilizing chilled water building wide.

Pacific Hall B-2 Outage Timeline 9/9- 12/18

To coordinate Pacific Hall outages related to the Pacific B-2 Renovation Design and Construction project managers Nick Pritchard and  Jen Miley have put together a timeline of events starting September 9, 2017, through December 18, 2017. These outages will vary from building wide to only impacting certain rooms. The purpose of this email is to provide an overview and reference.  Nick and Jen have been working closely with building users to document lab equipment and how this might impact departments and institutes. Going forward intentions are to provide this overview and continue to communicate building wide outages email notifications for anything that is impacting building wide services. On August 26, 2017, the chilled water will be turned off that services the Knight Library, Lokey Education, Hedco Education, Education Annex, Clinical Services, Frohnmayer Music and Berwick Hall from 6:00 am – 6:00 pm.  This temporary shutdown is necessary to allow piping from the tunnel to the Knight Library equipment room to be put in place in anticipation of adding two pumps for chilled water.   This will affect air conditioning services that are supplied by chilled water.
