On Friday, September 13th, contracts will be painting sharrows on 13th Avenue and University Street. Motorists should expect intermediate delays as flaggers direct traffic in the area.

Next week, from September 2nd –
6th 9th, Anderson Roofing will use an epoxy paint on the roof of the Music Building. The work will be conducted outside and only on the roof, however, occupants of the Music Complex may notice an odor during the time the paint is being applied.
It is advised that occupants, particularly on the 2nd floor of the South wing of the Music Complex, keep their windows closed during this period. If occupants are concerned about the nuisance odor, they may move temporarily to another part of the building. A Material Safety Data sheet for this paint is on file with EHS and with David Mason.

The remodeling work in the southwest corner of the lower level of Johnson Hall, specifically rooms 001B-D, 001K-N, 003B, 003D, 019, and 020, is picking up again with moving activity and the disassembling of office partitions on September 12th and 13th. The construction of two new offices and remodeled storage area will begin September 16th. For the period of time between September 16th – 27th expect typical construction activity and noise in this area associated with the framing of new walls and installation of gypsum board wall panels. Less noisy activity and finishing work will continue into mid-October.
Original Notice 8/28/19:
Beginning today, Wednesday, August 28th, with completion expected by next Wednesday, September 4th, painting will be taking place in the lower level of Johnson Hall – specifically in rooms 1B, 1C, 1D, 19, and 20.
I apologize for the late notification: the painter had an immediately opening for the work and I wanted to take advantage of this opening during this time of busy construction workloads, so I was not able to submit advanced notification.

On Saturday, August 3rd from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, Facilities Services will be painting in room 339 of Oregon Hall. This will involve the application of a low-odor dry erase paint. In order to mitigate odors, Facilities will be shutting off the HVAC system during this time. The shutdown will affect all of the third floor on the west side of the building.
In addition to performing the work on Saturday and shutting off the HVAC system, the following additional measures are being taken to limit odors:
-sealing HVAC register and return in room 339
-use of an air scrubber
-use of a minimal odor dry erase paint
No additional utility disruptions or shutoffs are expected at this time; however, if there are any additional disruptions or shutdowns to services, an additional notice will be distributed.

The Building 130 restroom project will involve painting from June 1 – 14, 2019. This may cause a noticeable odor throughout the building, but all paint is Low-VOC. All precautions are being taken to allow for odor control.

Beginning June 17th, and continuing until the end of August, the general contractor, Preferred Construction, and their subs will be doing renovation work in rooms 364-366 in the Knight Library. This will involve asbestos abatement, minor demo and framing, drywall, duct work, electrical, carpet and paint. Users can expect to hear normal and occasional construction noises such as hammering and drilling, and may smell a water-based latex, non-toxic paint, during the painting portion. Users will see the contractor, their subs and UO personnel entering/exiting the building with tools and materials during normal business hours.
During abatement (6/18-6/20), CPFM staff will turn off the HVAC system, which might affect areas outside the construction zone on the third floor.
No other utility disruptions or shutoffs are expected at this time, but if there are any more, then an additional notice will be distributed.

It will involve replacing the existing lighting with new units, demoing select built-ins, and replacing furniture. There will also be some drywall work and painting. Users can expect to hear normal and occasional construction noises such as hammering and drilling and may smell at times water-based latex, non-toxic paint. Occupants will see contractor and UO personnel entering/exiting the building with tools and materials during regular business hours. UO night crew tradespersons will also be in the building after hours. No utility disruptions or shutdownsare expected at this time.

Beginning July 10th, 2018 through July 27th, 2018 there will be trimming of shrubs and trees along the exterior of the building, including the bike cage and dumpster areas. There may be additional noise when work is in progress.
Painting & Power Washing Activities
The owners have contracted with Gary Pierce Painting to have the entire exterior of the building power washed and painted. Work is anticipated to begin on August 1, 2018, and be completed on or near August 31, 2018. Starting August 1st, Gary Pierce Painting will power wash the entire exterior building. Power washing will be completed in sections. After the power washing is completed, the painting will begin and also completed in sections. A lift will be on-site and used to complete this project.
Please note the following:
-There will be additional noise
-There may be odors
-Parking will be affected. Sections of parking in the row closest to the building will be blocked off throughout the duration of this project.
Please use caution as you enter and exit the building. Also, please watch for equipment and folks that are working on this project.
Please report any water leaks from power washing immediately.

Starting at the end of May, maintenance staff will be painting all hallways and performing work on hallway radiators in PLC. They will begin on the ground/basement level and hope to reach the 3rd floor by the end of summer.
You can expect to see painting tarps, ladders, work carts, paint cans, paint trays, etc. Please be mindful of the work spaces as you pass by them. Areas containing wet paint will be posted. You can also expect mild noise as the crews remove and replace radiator covers and possibly drill out stubborn screws.
