  • The building water shutdown will extend to end of day tomorrow, March 28th.   CPFM has additional work to perform tomorrow to repair a leaking water line.

2/10/24 Lawrence Hall, Allen Hall, Villard Hall, and Miller Theatre Domestic Water Shutdown

Begin:  Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 6:00 am

End:      Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 5:00 pm

Building(s) or Area(s) Affected:  Lawrence Hall, Allen Hall, Villard Hall, and Miller Theatre

Scope:   Domestic water will be shut down to relocate the building’s water and fire service shutoff valves into the tunnel.  This is needed to avoid conflict with the current Heritage Project’s demo and build back activities.

Services Impacted:  This will affect domestic hot and cold water service for the listed buildings in all sinks, restrooms, and drinking fountains.

Special Instructions:  Fire sprinkler systems will be shut down in University Hall, Villard Hall, and Miller Theatre.  These will be monitored by Fortis Construction.

Details:  Horns, Strobes, and Speakers on the fire alarm system will not sound after the scheduled time. Provisions have been taken to monitor the building fire systems during this time and alarms that occur after the scheduled time should be considered real events and occupants should evacuate as usual per the U of O Emergency Procedures.

Scope:  Fire flow testing will take place at University Hall. This will be a short duration shutdown (under 1 hour) and won’t need the water valve shut off,  but it will steal all of the water pressure supply of the other buildings mentioned, when they are performing the flow test.

Services Impacted:  Water to entire buildings (listed above) will have reduced flow for a short period of time.

1/25/24 and 2/08/24 Huestis Hall Basement Domestic and Industrial Water Shutdown

UPDATE 2/06/24:
The valves for this shutdown have arrived, however the contractor has additional prep work to perform prior to the shutdown that was unforeseen.  This shutdown will occur on Thursday, February 8th from 7:00 am – 1:30 pm.

 

UPDATE 1/31/24:
The domestic water valves have arrived.  Work will take place on Wednesday, February 7th, from 7:00 am to 1:30 pm.
– Domestic hot and cold water will be offline.
– Restroom and handwashing sink fixtures will not be available during this outage.

 

UPDATE 1/23/24:
Delivery of the domestic water valves is delayed. Tomorrow’s shutdown for January 24th will be rescheduled for a later date.  A new shutdown notice will be distributed.

The project is proceeding with the Thursday, January 25th  industrial water shutdown from 7:00 am – 1:30 pm.   However, the shutdown affects industrial hot water only. There are no anticipated impacts to RO generation and therefore, the bypass is not necessary.

If a shutdown occurs, it is expected to last for less than 3 hours and a new notification will be sent.

Services Impacted:  The domestic hot and cold water may be offline for approximately 3 hours, dependent on what is discovered during the repair.
