Onyx Bridge Water Shutdown 1/21/2020

Scope:  Repair is needed on domestic cold water line located in rooms 371/372 (see corroded pipe image below).

Extra Notes:  RO/DI water will not be affected.

Update – The contractor had more issues than anticipated with the shutdown this week. They were not able to fully close the valve to do the necessary work. We have now identified the problem and are going to perform the work on Tuesday, 1/14, from roughly 7 am to 2 pm.

Bathrooms will be available to use in the Admin Quonset or the Central Power Station during the shutdown.

CPFM Warehouse and Shops Bldg 130 Water Shutdown 12/5/19

Update 12/3/19: The shutdown for today was delayed until Thursday, December 5th. This will affect the water to the second floor, second floor bathrooms, and first floor break room for the entire day. The first floor restrooms should remain functional all day. There may be an hour or two without hot water in the first floor restrooms as connections are made, but they will remain open for use.

 

On Tuesday, December 3rd, between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, the water will be shut down for a portion of the day to replace some plumbing supply lines in the future Purchasing suite.

Allen, Carson, EMU, Friendly, and Gerlinger Hall Advisory Notice of Upcoming Sanitary Sewer Project Winter Break 2019

This is an advisory notice that sometime during Winter Break, all the restrooms and sinks will be shut down while work is being done on the sanitary sewer system.  The buildings affected will be Allen Hall, Carson Hall, the EMU, Friendly Hall, and Gerlinger Hall.

Each building will be impacted for approximately 6-8 hours.  A notice will be sent when the contractor had determined the exact dates for each individual building.

Millrace 3 Hot Water Shutdown 10/16/19

Update 3/4: One of the mixing valves was replaced on 2/28 and is working well. Repairs will continue to be on Fridays until all the mixing valves have been replaced.

 

Update 1/7: This project is not yet complete. The mixing valves needed to complete the repairs have still not arrived.

 

Update 11/21: This project is not yet complete. The mixing valves needed to repair the hot water to rooms 144C, 146, and 157 have not arrived. Repairs should be completed over winter break.

 

Update 11/20: This project is complete.

 

Update 10/18:

The hot water has been restored to all areas except the following: Rooms 146, 144C and 157. Room 157 is a standard sink that will not impact the classes/labs but the other locations 146 and 144C are Photo labs and the mixing valves in those locations are currently turned off. We will not have new parts for those locations for several weeks so users will need to use other labs within the building to complete their work. As soon as the parts arrive we will make it a priority to have them installed. Work Control will provide additional updates if more information becomes available.

 

As of October 16th, through midday tomorrow, October 17th end of November winter break February 3rd, the hot water will be shut down to allow Facilities Services to install new equipment.

LISB Domestic Hot Water Emergency Shutdown 9/13/19

Update 9/19: The plumbers have located and ordered the part. It will arrive tomorrow and the repairs will be made by 5:00 pm on Friday, September 20th.

 

Update 9/17: Due to the unavailability of parts, the shutdown is being extended. We are moving as quickly as possible and are hoping to resolve the situation by 12:00 pm on Thursday, September 19th.

 

Update: The plumbers have discovered that the domestic hot water shut down will also affect cage washers.

 

Effective immediately, September 13th, the domestic hot water has been shut down in LISB.  This is expected to be off throughout the weekend and into Monday. This will affect all sinks in the restrooms and break rooms, plus the showers.

Industrial hot water to the labs has not been affected, and will remain operational.

Hendricks Hall Drinking Water Notification Update 9/12/19

In August of 2019, CPFM installed filters on all of the drinking fountains in Hendricks Hall.  EHS collected confirmation samples on August 26, 2019, and results were received yesterday.  Results show that the issues have been successfully mitigated.  The water from the drinking fountains is now safe to drink and the fixtures have been returned to service.  See the table below for the initial lead results and the confirmation results after filters were installed.

Iron content has also shown significant reduction, dropping from 1,610 ppb to 69.4 ppb.  Iron is a by-product of water sitting in the plumbing during periods of low building use and is considered a secondary contaminant by the EPA.  That is, it affects taste and appearance of the water as opposed to the health of building users.  Please note that discoloration may return during periods of low use and can be cured by flushing several gallons of water through the fixture.

Millrace Studio 3 Planned Heat and Hot Water Shutdown 8/26 – 9/6/19

Update 9/5/19:

This project has been extended by three days and is expected to be completed on 9/6/19 after the power is connected to the new water heater.

 

Beginning Monday, August 26, at 8 a.m., Facilities Services technicians will shut off all heat and domestic hot water to Millrace Studio 3 while they perform planned repairs. Technicians will restore both heat and hot water services by Tuesday Friday, September 3 6.

CPFM Facilities Services technicians will complete this work.

Thompson University Center Planned Domestic Hot Water Shutdown 8/22/19

On Thursday, August 22 from 10 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., domestic hot water in Thompson University Center will be shut off while Facilities Services replaces a recirculation pump. This will impact all bathroom and break room sinks in the building, as they will have no hot water while plumbers replace the pump.

CPFM plumbers will perform this work.

Vivian Olum Child Development Center Room 103 Renovation 8/26/19 – 8/30/19

From Monday, August 26 through Friday, August 30, Facilities Services will renovate Room 103 in the Vivian Olum Child Development Center. Renovations involve carpentry and plumbing work to modify the height of the cabinet and sink. Occupants can expect to hear normal and occasional construction noises, such as drilling and cutting, and may observe UO Facilities personnel entering/exiting the building with tools and materials during regular business hours.

At this time, Facilities Services anticipates no utility disruptions or shutoffs; however, Facilities Services will provide additional notice(s) should any services unexpectedly be disrupted or shut down.

PeaceHealth North Water Shutdown 7/17/19

On Wednesday morning, July 17th, between 6:00 am and 8:30 am, there will be an isolated water shutdown.  Plumbers need to turn off water to install a new valve in room #454.  This shutdown may temporarily affect water flow in some or all nearby bathrooms (486, 487, 488, 408, and 418).  We will post signs at the locations that will be temporarily shut down.

This is part of the ongoing project being performed by Lease Crutcher Lewis.

Lawrence Hall Domestic Hot and Cold Water Shutdown 6/28

Our contractor Harvey and Price needs to make a repair that involves shutting down the domestic hot and cold water at Lawrence Hall.  We have coordinated 6:00 am – 8:00 am with Kyle Harshbarger, College of Design Facilities Manager.   This will impact plumbing fixtures building wide.  The restrooms will be temporarily closed during this outage.

On June 27 from 7:00 am – 3:30 pm Facilities Services needs to temporarily shut down the domestic cold and hot water that services the following buildings:

This is necessary for Greenhouse Operations swamp cooler repairs. The Greenhouse is dealing with a failed value and having to manually put water in the units. There are restrooms available in the CPFM Administration Building and portable toilets outside the CPFM Warehouse that can be accessed during this outage.

Water Shutdown Impacting Cascade Hall and Price Science Commons 6/20

Facilities Liaisons,

Due to emergency repairs to a toilet on the third floor of Cascade Hall the domestic water will need to be temporarily shut down until 2 pm on Thursday, June 20.

This will impact Price Science Commons and Cascade Hall.

Facilities Services confirmed that this would not impact the Cafe because it closed during this time. This will not impact the industrial cold water.

Onyx Bridge Heating Water Shutdown 6/11

Facilities Liaisons,

As part of the Onyx Elevator upgrade contractors need to shut down the building heating water loop that services Onyx Bridge. This will impact heating water building wide on June 11, 2019, from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm. The hope is with warmer weather this will have limited impact to occupants. The work will be performed by Fortis.
