Willamette Hall Classroom 100 Construction Phase 2 12/2/19 – 1/3/20

Pacific Hall 206: Room Renovation 12/2 – 12/13

Campus Community,

Beginning Monday, December 2nd and continuing through Friday December 13th, Pacific Hall 206 will be undergoing a remodeling project. Renovation activities will include moving services, carpet, paint, lighting, and data upgrades. Building occupants may observe UO Facilities personnel entering/exiting the building with tools and materials during regular business hours. These activities should be minimally impactful, however, on December 3rd and 4th spaces neighboring 206 can expect to hear normal and occasional construction noises.

Lewis Integrated Science Complex Treated Steam Shutdown 12/17/19

Update 12/16/19: This work has been postponed due to a delay in the parts’ arrival. The new date is yet to be determined.

On December 17th from 7:00 am-4:00 pm the treated steam will be shutdown to Lewis Integrated Sciences to repair a leaking 14 inch steam valve in the utility tunnel. This work will impact the heating and hot water.

Klamath and PSC Fire Alarm System Testing 12/3/19

On Tuesday, December 3rd, from 6:00 am to 7:00 am, prior to City inspections, the fire alarm devices within the Klamath 3rd floor renovation area need testing.  This will result in horns and strobes activated throughout Klamath Hall and the Price Science Commons.

Horns, Strobes, and Speakers on the fire alarm system will not sound after the scheduled time.  Provisions have been taken to monitor the building fire systems during this test, however alarms that occur after the scheduled time should be considered real events and occupants should evacuate as usual per the U of O Emergency Procedures.

Johnson Hall Restroom #006 Shutdown 12/16/19 – 12/23/19

Update 12/19/19: This project has been extended and will be complete on Monday 12/23/19.

 

On Monday, December 16th, at 6:00 am until Friday, December 20th 23rd, at 5:00 pm, women’s restroom #006 will be shut down. During this time, the in-floor drain line, for the sink, will be replaced.

Loud noise will be heard throughout the building, Monday, October 16th, as workers cut into the floor to access the pipe.

Please use the all-gender restroom next door, in #006A, or the restrooms on the 2nd floor.

Klamath Hall 2nd Floor Renovation Area Heating Shutdown 12/4/19

On Wednesday morning, December 4th, from 5:00 am to 9:00 am, the second floor heating water will be shut off, likely causing a temporary reduction of temperatures.  This needs to be done to allow contractors to isolate the heating water from the 2nd floor renovation area.

Warm rooms on the floor will receive temporary electric heaters for the duration.

Humpy Lumpy Tunnel Lighting and Sump Pump Shutdown 12/5/19

On Thursday, December 5th, from 8:00 am to 10:00 am, the breaker in Panel BN5-2 will be turned off in the tunnel west of Bean, under Humpy Lumpy. This is to allow the demo of site lighting in Humpy Lumpy. While the breaker is off, the lighting and sump pump in this section of the tunnel will not be operational.

CPFM Warehouse and Shops Bldg 130 Water Shutdown 12/5/19

Update 12/3/19: The shutdown for today was delayed until Thursday, December 5th. This will affect the water to the second floor, second floor bathrooms, and first floor break room for the entire day. The first floor restrooms should remain functional all day. There may be an hour or two without hot water in the first floor restrooms as connections are made, but they will remain open for use.

 

On Tuesday, December 3rd, between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, the water will be shut down for a portion of the day to replace some plumbing supply lines in the future Purchasing suite.

McKenzie Hall Renovation Advisory Notice for North End of Second Floor 12/13/19 – 1/5/20

11/21/19 Original Notice:

On Friday, December 20th, 2019 December 13th, 2019, beginning at 12:00 noon, through Sunday, January 5th, 2020, renovations will take place on the north end of McKenzie Hall, on the 2nd floor.  Work will be done on rooms 240A and 240C but contractors will be using the north end of the building and, at limited times, the exit and ramp on the east side and the main entrance on the south side.

Power may be shut off to the rooms, but it will be localized as much as possible and for short periods.

The affected area will be off limits to students and staff during winter break, including the foyer area in between the rooms, extending to the exit on the east side, down the ramp, and along the sidewalk to the dumpster.

On January 2nd and 3rd, furniture delivery will take place from the south main entry, along the main hall, to rooms 240 A, B, and C.

Work will be performed by Preferred Construction, Rubenstein Carpet Contractors, PMG, Hyphn, and UO Facilities Services.

Allen, Carson, EMU, Friendly, and Gerlinger Hall Advisory Notice of Upcoming Sanitary Sewer Project Winter Break 2019

This is an advisory notice that sometime during Winter Break, all the restrooms and sinks will be shut down while work is being done on the sanitary sewer system.  The buildings affected will be Allen Hall, Carson Hall, the EMU, Friendly Hall, and Gerlinger Hall.

Each building will be impacted for approximately 6-8 hours.  A notice will be sent when the contractor had determined the exact dates for each individual building.

CPFM Warehouse and Shops Building #130 Fire Sprinkler System Shutdown 11/19/19

Today, November 19th, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, due to construction, the fire sprinkler system needs to be shut down to re-support sprinkler lines and cap some heads to avoid accidental discharge of system.  This was an unforeseen condition.

The entire building’s occupants and the contractor will provide fire watch during this shutdown.

Klamath Hall Construction Notice Starting November 18 through May 2020

Facilities Liaisons and PI’s,

Construction activities within the work area of Klamath Hall will begin Monday, November 18, and last through May 29, 2020.   Construction personnel will be coming and going from the work area, and material will be moved in and out of the work area.  Occupants can expect normal construction activities in this area.   Please see the below-highlighted floor plan.

Building 130 FASS Construction Project 11/22/19 – 2/14/20

UPDATE 11/22/19:

The concrete cutting is complete. There is an additional noise advisory for some jack-hammering activity in this space on Monday 11/25 between 8:00 am and 2:00 pm.

 

UPDATE 11/21/19:

Concrete cutting has been delayed until 11/22.

 

UPDATE 11/19/19:

Additional noise will be heard throughout the building, all day, on Thursday 11/21.  This is due to concrete cutting on the floors in preparation for new footings.

 

Building Occupants,

A construction project has started in BLDG. 130, room 101-109, and 119. This is to build out a space for Stores, Purchasing, and Campus Mail. The project is kicking off this week. Target completion is Early February 2020.

The direct impact is rooms 101-109, 119, and 119A. Construction will be heard throughout the building.

Esslinger Hall Restroom #173 Water Shutdown 11/18/19 – 11/19/19

Update 11/18: Restroom 173 is now open.

Update 11/15: Available restrooms have been updated due to access restrictions on other restrooms.

 

On Monday, November 18th, through Tuesday, November 19th, between 7:00 am and 4:00 pm, restroom 173 will be offline for 2-3 hours while plumbers makes connections for a future sink.  The full extent of the water shutdown is yet to be determined, but should be localized to the restroom itself.  An update will be sent when a more accurate time is known.

Campus Community,

Fencing on Humpy Lumpy will be installed for Phase 1 of the Hamilton and Walton Hall Transformation Project beginning December 2nd. The fencing will remain in place for the duration of the project, through June of 2021. Pedestrian traffic will be detoured to the north and south of Humpy Lumpy, as shown in green on the map. Flaggers will be posted at the entrance and exit of the construction site to ensure pedestrian safety.  Work will be performed by Fortis Construction.

Carson Hall Landscape Noise Advisory 11/29/19

On Friday, November 29th, at approximately 9:00 am to 11:00 am, landscape bark will be blown in amongst the trees and sidewalk strip along 13th Ave, on the north side of the street.  Noise will affect Carson Hall and possibly Huestis and Deschutes Halls.

Esslinger Hall Noise Advisory 11/11/19 – 1/6/20

Update 11/27:

DEC: 2-6: DUST AND LIMITED ACCESS TO 180A, 181A, & 181B. Facilities Services will be finishing drywall in 180 & 181, and H111. This will be a dusty activity. They will target early morning for the worst areas and continually vacuum as they go. There is no way to contain 100% of the dust during the process. Crews will make every attempt to contain dust and clean up as they go. We cannot guaranty access to the 181A & 181B rooms during this time. Please take any measures possible to limit the need to use those rooms.

 

Beginning November 11th, 2019, and continuing through January 6th, 2020, light demolition, framing, and general construction will continue in Esslinger 180 and 181.

Construction will occur during business/class hours. Every attempt will be made to avoid the loudest activities during scheduled classes, but there will be ongoing construction noise for the next 3-4 weeks.  The noise from 180 and 181 may travel to 105, 107, and down H101 and H190.

Baker Freight Elevator Shutdown 11/8/19

Update 11/18: All repairs have been completed and the elevator is now operational.

 

Update 11/15: The parts have been installed and new relays are on order. The Otis technician is trouble shooting the water issue and plans to have all repairs completed by November 22nd.

 

The freight elevator is currently being worked on, and parts are expected sometime in the middle of next week.   The other elevator requires a key to operate it.  Please contact the building manager if you need access.

Willamette Hall Fume Hood Shutdown 11/19/19 plus Yearly Maintenance 11/18/19 – 11/22/19

Beginning Monday, November 18th from 8:30 am through Friday, November 22nd, the preventative maintenance crew will be changing out filters and belts for Willamette Hall’s yearly maintenance.  This will impact the whole building as most filters will be done live, and then each motor will be shut down just long enough to replace belts.

During this process on Tuesday, November 19th, fume hoods will be shut down beginning at 9:00 am and will be back up and operational by 12:00 noon.

Work will be performed by the CPFM Preventative Maintenance Crew.

Wednesday, November 27th, between 5:00 am and 6:00 am, there will be two normal power outages to connect a new electrical feeder to Hayward Field.  At 5:00 am, there will be a 5 minute outage, followed by a second 5 minute outage occurring at approximately 5:50 am.

Buildings impacted include Bean Hall Complex, Ford Alumni Center, 13th Avenue Garage (formerly Columbia Parking Garage), Matthew Knight Arena, Global Scholars Hall, and Kalapuya Ilihi Residence Hall.

Buildings that have standby power will experience a momentary interruption while power transfers from normal to standby.
