1715 Franklin Burning/Smoke Odor Advisory 4/25/22

A burning / smoke odor was reported in the Franklin Building today at approximately 12:00 pm. Our investigation identified the source as a burning paper towel in the trash can in the lobby near the vending machines. The issue has been resolved and we are working on identifying where the paper towel originated. If you have any information, please let us know as soon as possible.

Building 130 Fire Sprinkler Install 4/25

Scope: Two sprinkler heads need to be installed on second floor of building 130 in D&C offices. The building’s fire system will be shut down during this time.

Services Impacted: The fire alarm and sprinkler system will be shut down during this time.

Details:  Horns, Strobes, and Speakers on the fire alarm system will not sound after the scheduled time. The contractor will monitor the building fire systems during this time and alarms that occur after the scheduled time should be considered real events and occupants should evacuate as usual per the U of O Emergency Procedures.

University St and Johnson Lane Sidewalk Advisory 4/25

Scope:  This coming Monday, 4/25/22, the Susan Campbell sidewalk contractor will be excavating and preparing for upcoming concrete pours. As part of this work, they will be parking a truck on the corner of University St and Johnson Lane (shown in picture) for loading out, most likely in the early afternoon, and the corner will be closed at this time. There will be traffic control present to assist movement of pedestrians and vehicles around the corner when this work occurs.

Baker Downtown Center Roofing Project 4/25-7/29

Carson Hall, Living Learning Center, Straub/Earl Utility Steam Shutdown 4/28/22 – 4/29/22

EMERGENCY UPDATE 4/29/22:
A pipe flange has cracked on the large steam pipe for Carson Hall.
Steam will be offline for Carson, Earl, and Straub until approximately 6:00 pm tomorrow evening.  Contractors are gathering the needed parts and will be making the repairs tomorrow.
(Steam has been restored for Living Learning Center and will not be affected by this shutdown.)

Scope:  Due to a steam leak on a main 8 inch steam valve, and a steam leak on a 2 inch meter pipeline, the utility steam will be shut down to replace the leaking valve and meter piping.  Work will be performed in the utility tunnel.

Services Impacted:

  • This will only affect the building heat and building hot water in Carson Hall, Straub Hall, and Earl Hall.
  • All of Living Learning Center will be on an alternate steam supply pipe and should not be affected.

Gerlinger Annex HVAC System Shutdown 4/29/22

Willamette Hall Air Handler 3 Emergency Shutdown 4/18/22 – 5/20/22

UPDATE 5/20/22:
The repair is complete and the air handler is operational.

 

UPDATE 5/6/22:
Replacement parts have been ordered to repair the air handler fan. Due to supply chain delays the parts are not expected to arrive until May 26th. With the fan being shutdown conditioned air is not being circulated to parts of the building. Occupants will continue to experience cooler than normal building temperatures.

 

UPDATE 4/21/22:
Air Handler 3 is expected to be shut down until May 6th. The reason for the extended shut down is new bearings are being ordered and parts are being fabricated to repair a severely damaged fan shaft.

Services Impacted:  Power will be off on Saturday to the NW corner of the SRC and all of Esslinger.

Special Instructions:  Please shut down and unplug all multi-function copier devices as well as any printers during scheduled power outages. The software on these machines can be negatively affected due to the power surge when the power is turned back on.  A power surge can corrupt the clone files in the machines and change preconfigured settings.
