Hayward Field Wet Zone 4 Fire Sprinkler System Shutdown 4/19/21

Begin:  Monday, April 19th, 2021 at 7:00 am

End:      Monday, April 19th, 2021 at 3:00 pm

Building(s) or Area(s) Impacted:  Hayward Field Wet Zone 4

Scope:  Harvey & Price will be setting sprinkler heads in the newly installed ACT ceilings.  This work is associated with the Hayward Field’s Human Physiology Tenant Improvement Project.

Services Impacted:  The fire sprinkler system will be offline for the Human Physiology Tenant Improvement, NW corner of lower level of Hayward Field (Wet Zone 4).

Extra Notes:  Harvey & Price coordinating their work with IES for alarm support.

Special Instructions: Horns, Strobes, and Speakers on the fire alarm system will not sound after the scheduled time. Provisions have been taken to monitor the building fire systems during this time and alarms that occur after the scheduled time should be considered real events and occupants should evacuate as usual per the U of O Emergency Procedures.

Computing Center Emergency Water Shutdown 4/8/21

Scope:  EWEB needs to change out a failed water meter, requiring an emergency shutdown of the building’s main water line.  UO staff will be on site to monitor the building alarm systems and mechanical equipment.

Services Impacted:  Water will be offline, affecting restrooms, sinks, drinking fountains, and the building fire sprinkler system.

Special Instructions: Any alarms that occur after the scheduled time should be considered real events and occupants should evacuate as usual per the U of O Emergency Procedures.

1900 Millrace 109, 116, & 120 Abatement 4/12-4/30

Begin:  Monday, April 12, 2021

End:      Friday, April 30, 2021

Building Impacted:  1900 Millrace (formerly the Innovation Center) rooms 109, 116, & 120.

Scope:  Asbestos Abatement of existing floors in room 109 & 116.  Requires pre/post work to disconnect/reconnect the fume hood in room 120.

  • April 12-16: prep work that includes shutdown of fume hood ventilation in rooms 116 & 120, hot work (welding) on West exterior side of the building.
  • April 19-21: abatement work in rooms 109 & 116
  • April 21-30: post abatement work that includes turning back on the fume hood ventilation & hot work on the West exterior side of the building.  The bulk of the work is expected to occur until 4/23, however there could be some minor residual work that lasts until 4/30.

Services Impacted:

  • No additional electrical or HVAC disruptions are known at this time.  A shut down notice will be issued as necessary.
  • Building access will be maintained during construction but may require minor detours.
  • Users can expect to hear construction noises like hammering, drilling, grinding, and see Rose City Contracting employees and UO staff entering and exiting the building during normal business hours.

Knight Law Drinking Fountain Replacement Advisory 4/5/21 – 4/23/21

UPDATE 4/15/21:
This shutdown has been extended a week to April 23rd.

End:      Friday, April 16th 23rd, 2021

Building(s) or Area(s) Impacted:  Knight Law Center

Scope: Facilities Services will be removing the existing water fountain on the first floor hallway outside locker room (H164) and replacing it with a new fountain that includes a bottle filler.

Services Impacted:

  • The drinking fountain in H164 will be offline until the new fountain is installed
  • Users can expect to see Facilities Services personnel, including plumbers, carpenters, electricians, and painters working in the area intermittently for the duration of the project.
  • Users can expect to hear normal and occasional construction noises such as hammering and drilling, and may smell a water-based latex, non-toxic paint, during the process.

Extra Notes: No other utility disruptions or shutoffs are expected at this time, however, if there are any more, an additional notice will be distributed.
