12/11/23 – 1/05/24 Miller Theatre Complex Electrical, Steam, Fire Alarm, and Network Shutdown

Scope:  Associated with the Heritage Renovation Project: Fortis Construction and sub-contractors will be Installing a temporary utilities cutover from Villard Hall to the Miller/Robinson Theater area beginning December 11th, completed by January 5th.

Services Impacted:

  • Steam, power, fire alarm, and network service will be shut down.
  • Villard Hall is already off-line due to the Heritage Renovation Project with demolition currently taking place.
  • The remaining areas of the Miller Theatre Complex – Robinson Theatre, Hope Theatre, the Scene Shop, Costume Shop, and supporting rooms – will experience heat, power, fire alarm, and network service loss while the temporary utilities cutover installation takes place.

Special Instructions for Copiers:  Please shut down and unplug all multi-function copier devices as well as any printers during scheduled power outages. Details:  Horns, Strobes, and Speakers on the fire alarm system will not sound after the scheduled time. Provisions have been taken to monitor the building fire systems during this time and alarms that occur after the scheduled time should be considered real events and occupants should evacuate as usual per the U of O Emergency Procedures.

10/09/23 – 10/13/23 Seasonal Building Steam Management for Fall 2023

Scope:  Starting the week of October 9th, 2023, the Mechanical shop will again implement its process for systematically activating the heat within steam-controlled buildings. This process can take several days depending on if any problems arise during this time.

Additional Notes:  Turning on and off the steam is very hard on the infrastructure serving our building’s mechanical systems.  Seasonal adjustments are based on the following format:

Steam is turned on in the Fall when:

  • Night-time outside air temperature is below 50 degrees for five consecutive nights
  • AND daytime temperatures are below 70 degrees for five consecutive days

Steam is turned off in the Spring when:

  • Night-time outside air temperatures are above 50 degrees for five consecutive nights
  • AND the daytime temperature is above 70 degrees for five consecutive days

10/09/23 Klamath Hall Chilled Water, Supply Airflow, and Electrical Outage

UPDATE 10/09/23:
Please be aware the hallway lighting will be losing power during the shutdown and will be returning when the shutdown ends.

 

UPDATE 9/29/23:
Additionally, in order to perform the work, and for safety, the steam supply to the building will be isolated.  This could possibly result in lower ambient temperatures within the building but no significant fluctuations are expected.

 

UPDATE 9/22/23:
The previously proposed  shutdown for 9/18/23 has been shortened and the date has been adjusted.  It will now be occurring on 10/9/23 between the hours of 7:00 am and 11:30 am.
