Due to the remodel, compressed air and lab vacuum lines will be temporarily shut down in rooms 9 and 10.

Monday, June 24, 2024, 7:30 am – 4:00 pm
Due to the remodel, the tempered water and reverse osmosis water will be temporarily shut down in rooms 1 – 30 in the basement.

UPDATE #3:
Wednesday, June 26, 2024, 7:00 am – Friday, June 28, 2024, 4:00 pm
As part of the remodel, a contractor will be painting room 13.  A low VOC paint will be used but paint odor can be expected throughout the basement during this time.

Work has been completed and service has been restored.

Scope:  The AHU-6 unit has failed and will need to be replaced. A notice will be sent when service has been restored.

Services Impacted:

  • There will be limited air flow to rooms 111, 211, 245, and hallways H210 and H214.  The return fan is still going and has been bumped up to maximum, but the unit is only at about 20% air flow at best.
  • Heating and cooling to the spaces listed will also be affected.

2/23/24 Huestis Hall Sealant Application, Odor Advisory, and Exhaust Fan Shutdown

UPDATE:
The time has been extended an additional two hours, from 6:00 am to 11:00 am.

Scope:  Graffiti proof sealant will be applied to the exterior brick on Level 1/ground floor of Huestis Hall. The early morning hours were selected to decrease the amount of disruption to occupants during a typical work day. This notice is subject to rescheduling if weather conditions are unfavorable for installation.

Outage affecting Huestis basement: AHU 1 and 2 and lab exhaust fans will be offline during this work activity.

Advisory to Lokey Labs and Willamette Hall: Neighbors of Huestis Hall may experience odors due the sealant material.

Scope:  Heating and cooling in the building will be limited due to a power bump that burnt up the drive for the supply fan on AHU-1.  Quotes are being requested to replace the drive, but an ETA on when this work will be completed is unknown at this time.  An update will be sent when service has been restored.

Services Impacted:  The return fan is still working on this unit, but the heating and cooling capacity will be affected until we get the drive replaced.

UPDATE 1/26/24:
This work has been rescheduled to Monday, February 12th, from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, due to a scheduling conflict.

 

UPDATE 1/25/24:
A portion of this work was delayed due to the ice storm and will now take place on 2/7/23.  Our project contractor will be installing the final air handling part to complete the system soon, which will necessitate the HVAC air supply being offline for the day. This condition will affect only the ground and first floors.  Please make sure to close fume hood sashes and seal containers within the fume hoods prior to this shutdown.

1st Day:             Tuesday, January 9, 2024, from 7:00 am until 4:00 pm

2nd Day:           Friday, January 12, 2024, from 7:00 am until 4:00 pm

Building(s) or Area(s) Affected:  Huestis Hall and Lokey Labs

Scope:

  • Huestis Hall: On Tuesday 1/9 and again on Friday 1/12 from 7:00 am – 4:00 pm, air and exhaust systems will be offline in the basement as the temporary AHU and exhaust fans are removed and final connections to building AHU units and lab exhaust fans are reconnected. User access to Huestis rooms 6, 12 and 13 should be limited or avoided during this shutdown.
  • Lokey Labs and Huestis Hall:  On Tuesday, 1/9 from 7:00 am until 4:00 pm, the fire alarm system will be offline to Huestis and Lokey Labs during this shutdown. Contractor will provide fire watch.

Services Impacted:  This will affect exhaust, fire alarm systems, fume hoods, heating, cooling, and the HVAC air supply.  Fume hood sashes should be closed and containers within the fume hoods sealed prior to this date.

Details:  Horns, Strobes, and Speakers on the fire alarm system will not sound after the scheduled time. Provisions have been taken to monitor the building fire systems during this time and alarms that occur after the scheduled time should be considered real events and occupants should evacuate as usual per the U of O Emergency Procedures.
