8/29/22 CPFM Warehouse Design & Construction Door Repair Advisory

Scope:  Facilities will be repairing the south entry double doors to the CPFM D&C Offices stairway, shown by the red X, which will render them inoperable throughout the day.  Alternate entry points are shown in green (see pic below).

Services Impacted:

  • The south stairway entrance to D&C will be closed but the SW stairway entrance will be open.
  • There will be some general construction noise (grinding, mainly) along with some sealant work to follow, so some unfamiliar odors may be present as well.

Special Instructions:  For those who bike in, or require use of the elevator, the southwest entry will be your closest entry point to the interior racks/elevator.

8/27/22 – 9/11/22 Student Recreation Center Annual Maintenance Shutdown Advisory

Scope:  The SRC will be closed for annual maintenance.  As part of their facility maintenance, hardwood floors will be screened and sealed.  An outside vendor will be applying a new seal to Studio 41 and Uptown Court 290.

Services Impacted:  Although measures will be taken to reduce the impact, the floor sealant gives off an odor that some may find unpleasant. Although work will be completed by 9/9, there could still be off-gassing taking place for a couple of days.

8/25/22 Huestis Hall Fire Sprinkler System Shutdown

Scope:  As part of the Huestis Renovation project, the fire sprinkler system will be shut down in the Huestis Basement for demo and rerouting of fire sprinkler lines. Active fire watch will be conducted by Lewis.

Details:  Horns, Strobes, and Speakers on the fire alarm system will not sound after the scheduled time. Provisions have been taken to monitor the building fire systems during this time and alarms that occur after the scheduled time should be considered real events and occupants should evacuate as usual per the U of O Emergency Procedures.

Scope:  Housing will be receiving many deliveries in large trucks over the next several weeks and the first to arrive will be Monday morning. 8/16/22 – 9/30/22 Lawrence Hall Glass Curtain Replacement and Access Advisory

UPDATE:  9/21/22 – The glass curtain wall has been installed however the exterior concrete needs to be cleaned and sealed and the interior stairwell painted.  The exterior work should be completed mid week next week and the interior work by end of week, 9/30/22.

UPDATE:  8/29/22 – Due to the ongoing work to replace the window curtain wall in the West Stair Tower of Lawrence Hall, the sidewalk between Lawrence and Allen Halls will be closed 8/31/22 – 9/2/22 during working hours only

  • Interior signage will be placed to show alternative egress.
  • Access through the exterior door at the base of the stairs will be largely maintained but could see temporary closures.
  • Materials will be brought to the site from 13th Street on the sidewalk along Friendly and Allen Hall.

UPDATE:
The contractors completed the install of the VFD, but the manufacturer of the drive will not have the startup and commissioning complete until the end of the business day on Friday, August 19th, 2022.

Scope: Due to a failing Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) that modulates the fan speed on the Lokey Labs exhaust system, the VFD needs to be replaced and the exhaust system will be offline.

Services Impacted: All Lokey Laboratories exhaust systems, Including Fume Hoods and general lab exhaust will be affected.

Special Instructions: All fume hoods need to be closed and all containers and materials inside the fume hoods need to be removed or stored in a manner that is safe with no exhaust air flow.
