UPDATE 12/14: After doing some preliminary work today, the contractor has determined it unnecessary to remove the bulk of the metal ceiling panels. They do want to use their high lift to install a number of walk planks above the metal ceiling. The men’s and woman’s bathrooms (116F and 117) will not be accessible due to overhead hazards. All gender bathroom (118) and upstairs bathrooms will remain usable.

Building(s) or Area(s) Impacted:  Breezeway and Metal Shop in Building 130

Scope: Loud ceiling work in the warehouse metal shop area (Rm 119) will occur on 12/14 through 12/16. Contractors will be cutting portions of the aluminum drop ceiling to gain access for HVAC work.

Extra Notes: No welding, but Hot Work Permit is on file with EH&S. Construction noises will occur during advisory.

Building(s) or Area(s) Impacted:  Columbia St. and Humpy Lumpy residence hall

Scope:  We will be taking down the tower crane at the new Humpy Lumpy residence hall between December 21-23. All work will take place inside the project limits, with no street or parking lot closures. While there will be no closure of Columbia St., it will be used for access to the site and could be congested at times. Flaggers will be used to escort trucks down Columbia St. Please be aware of this activity in this area during the deconstruction of the crane.

Extra Notes: Columbia St. may be congested during activity.

Scope:  In preparation for the Huestis Hall Renovation Project, UO EH&S will be onsite taking samples of potentially hazardous materials for abatement work.

Extra Notes: EH&S will be accessing rooms, such as labs and offices, throughout the sampling process.
