Hamilton Hall Area Welding Odor Advisory 11/13/24

Scope:  Due to a leak on the condensate return pipe in the utility tunnel, a piping contractor will be working in the tunnel accessed from Hamilton Hall and tunnel access holes along Agate Street. There may be a slight welding odor in the area near utility access.

Services Impacted:  The odor may be noticed by the utility tunnel access near Agate St. and the Mechanical rooms in the Hamilton Hall basement.

9/09/24 – 9/20/24 Lokey Education Sidewalk Replacement Advisory

UPDATE:
The concrete was poured today and will be drying over the weekend.  It is currently sectioned off to prevent accidental use.
The contractor will be back on Monday to remove the forms, opening it back up to pedestrian and bicycle traffic.  However, the concrete needs to continue to cure until next Friday, Sept. 20th, before vehicle/cart traffic will be able to use it.  Signage will be posted on Monday to this effect.

10/21/24 – 3/31/25 Johnson Hall 219-221 Remodeling Advisory

UPDATE 11/19/24:
The work on the fire sprinkler heads has been rescheduled for Monday, November 25th.

 

UPDATE 11/14/24:
Scope: The fire alarm system will be temporarily shut down on Tuesday, November 19 starting at 7:00 am for Swinerton to relocate some fire sprinkler heads in rooms 219-221. The work is expected to take a few hours, and the system will be reactivated once work is complete.

Details:  Horns, Strobes, and Speakers on the fire alarm system will not sound after the scheduled time. Provisions have been taken to monitor the building fire systems during this time and alarms that occur after the scheduled time should be considered real events and occupants should evacuate as usual per the U of O Emergency Procedures.

UPDATE 11/01/24:
Demolition of clay tile will be occurring November 5th – 8th, from 5:00 am to 9:00 am.  There will be considerable noise during these hours.

A temporary wall is being constructed on the south side of room #206 on Monday, October 28th, between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.  It will remain in place for the duration of the project.

Scope:  The Student Recreation Center will be closed August 31st – September 15th for annual maintenance. As part of facility maintenance, hardwood floors will be screened and sealed. An outside vendor (New Dimension Hardwood Floors) will be applying a new seal to select floors. This work will begin on September 3rd with minor elements extending past the facility closure date.

Services Impacted:  The floor sealant gives off an odor that some find unpleasant. Upon consultation with the Dept. of Human Physiology, this work has been strategically scheduled to minimize impacts.

6/17/24 – 11/01/24 Klamath Hall Re-Roofing Project Advisory – Updated

RESCHEDULED – UPDATE for Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 7:00 am to Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 4:00 pm:
Due to rain in the forecast for Thursday 8/22 and Friday 8/23, the work near the air intake will need to be rescheduled to next Wednesday 8/28 and Thursday 8/29.

 

UPDATE for Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 7:00 am to Friday, August 23, 2024, at 4:00 pm:
On August 22 and 23 the contractor will be applying the liquid roof membrane near the air intakes that serve the third floor.  To mitigate odor intrusion, the contractor has placed filters on the intakes, applied plastic covers over the platform, and will have industrial fans to divert the air away.  Odor intrusion is likely throughout those two days and that it will be monitored by EHS.

 

UPDATE for Thursday, July 18, 2024, from 7:00 am to 7:15 am:
Lease Crutcher Lewis will shut down one roof top exhaust fan for 15 minutes.  The EF3-1 affects restrooms and service rooms on the third floor: All Gender Restroom 311, Service 312B, Women’s Restroom 312, Electrical 354, Men’s Restroom 353

UPDATE for Tuesday, June 18, 2024, from 7:00 am – 4:00 pm:
As part of the re-roofing project the contractor will be pressure washing during this time, noise associated with this can be expected in the building and surrounding areas.

UPDATE 6/14/24:

  • Interior stairs will only be used during the project’s first week 6/17 through 6/21. (There is no elevator in Klamath.)
  • The contractor will begin prep work on the roof from 6/17 through 6/21.
  • Construction for the reroofing project will begin on 6/24 and last 4-5 months.
  • Scaffolding will be placed on the northeast corner of the building for the duration of the project.
  • An indoor air quality management plan will be implemented to manage and monitor air quality in and around the site.

Services Impacted:

  • Elevator and  The loading dock will be used temporarily throughout the project when needed.  Further notice will be provided during those times.
  • The project will have minimal noise and disruption.
  • Some materials used may cause a harmless odor.

5/21/24 – 12/31/24 Knight Library Exterior Restoration Project Advisory

UPDATE 10/17/24:
The construction fence and crane will be removed, and pedestrian access restored between the cemetery and Knight Library/Gerlinger Annex, by November 18th.

UPDATES for 9/26/24 through 10/04/24:
Starting next Thursday, September 26th, the scaffolding will begin to come down.  This process will take 8 days, including Saturday, and be completed on October 4th.

  • Fencing will define the work areas off limits to pedestrians, and pedestrian paths will be redirected around the construction area.
  • Construction fencing and signage will be installed to delineate construction areas from areas of egress for pedestrians.
  • The main entrances will be alternately closed depending on which section of scaffolding is being dismantled.

UPDATES for 8/15/24 through 9/06/24:
Starting tomorrow, August 15th, roofers will be doing intermittent patching on the east and west roofs of the library.  They will be using a fluid applied roofing material that will have some odor.  This phase of the work will be ongoing for the next 2-3 weeks.

UPDATES for 7/11/24 through 8/16/24:

  • Starting July 11th, the scaffolding on the roof of the library will begin to be dismantled and reinstalled on the ground level.  This activity will be ongoing for two weeks.
  • In addition, the week of July 15th the contractor will start to install seismic reinforcing on the brick veneer of the ground level.  This will create noise from drilling through the veneer to the concrete structure behind.  This activity will be on going for 3-4 weeks.

UPDATE for 7/02/24 through 7/23/24:

  • Starting tomorrow 7/2, window contractor will be reinstalling window sashes that have been restored on the roof areas.  This activity will be on going for the next 2-3 weeks.

UPDATE for 6/20/24 through 10/15/24:
The area between Knight Library and the Cemetery will be closed to all pedestrian access from June 20 until October 15, 2024, for construction crane and roofing – see attached plan

UPDATE for 6/05/24 through 6/19/24:
For the next two weeks, masonry grinding and tuck pointing will continue.  Painters will be working on painting exterior window frames.

UPDATE 5/23/24:
There will be grinding on the exterior brick, causing noise, for the next five weeks.

UPDATE 5/21/24: (A separate notice was sent for this activity on 5/21)
Pressure washing is taking place on the exterior of Knight Library through Wednesday 5/29.
