Scope:  Third Generation Painting will paint selected spaces during winter break. UHS staff will handle room preparation prior to painting.

Services Impacted:  Occupants of impacted rooms will need to make alternative work arrangements on days when their spaces are unavailable. UHS leadership has already notified affected users and will coordinate with them to ensure suitable accommodations. During the project, there may be paint odors that some individuals find unpleasant; however, these are not harmful. Additionally, painting activities will generate some noise while work is in progress.

UPDATE for 12/19/25:

The following update is for specific work impacts occurring in Huestis Hall this Friday, December 19.

Heat exchangers will be shut off Friday, December 19th to allow warranty repairs.  Only one heat exchanger will be shut down at a time.  Due to this redundancy, users should not experience any impacts.  The shutdowns will begin at 9:00 am and last approximately 4 hours. The Zebrafish facility will not be impacted by this work.

Contractors will be replacing sink parts in room 211 at 8:30 am.  Users should be aware that this sink will be offline for 24 hours, through Saturday, December 20th,  at 9:00 am. A sign will be posted on the sink.

Contractors will be rehanging curtains in microscopy rooms 305C, 305D, 305H between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm.

UPDATE 12/11/25:  Concrete drilling in B030 has been cancelled.  The concrete anchor installation in B012A have been postponed until December 18, 2025, 7:00 am – 10:00 am.

UPDATE:  On Monday, December 15, 2025 between 7:00 am – 9:00 am, concrete drilling in a wall shared between the basement mechanical room B030 and the lab B012A will occur.  Concrete anchors will also be installed in the ceiling of B012A that will cause vibrations and noise to occur in the spaces above, rooms 184 and 185.

The plumbing scope will require core drilling and a one-day plumbing shutdown that effects Streisinger Hall rooms 276, 275, 255, and 265. A separate notification will go out for the core drilling and plumbing shutdown once those are scheduled.

  • Users can expect to see contractors working in room 276 and mechanical room 190.
  • There will be periodic noise and vibrations as work continues.

  • Please avoid entering the work zone. Contractors will be using ladders for overhead work.
  • No compressed air for the Labs in the building during new shut off valve installation at Lab 200 – new valve will be installed by 10 AM on Thursday 10/16, service will be returned by 10 AM.
  • Soldering of copper conduit will occur on Thursday 10/16 but will be limited in duration – there will be a burning plastic smell, protection will be in place, a fire watch will be in place.

UPDATE 12/05/25:  All steam shutdowns are being pushed back until Spring, an updated notice will be sent out when more information is available.

Scope:  The steam coils will be replaced in the Klamath Hall basement.

Services Impacted:

  • For most of the duration of the project, there won’t be much disruption.
  • There will be welding and soldering occurring in the basement, but the contractor will be taking steps to minimize odors throughout the building.
  • As part of this project, the steam and air handlers will have to be shutdown periodically.  Additional, updated notifications and coordination will take place prior to these shutdowns. I don’t have a schedule of those yet.

Scope:  Painting is scheduled to take place in Oregon Hall Dean of Students suite starting Monday, September 29. In preparation for this work, all items must be removed from the walls designated for painting, and a minimum three-foot clearance must be maintained in front of these surfaces. Personal belongings should be cleared from any furniture positioned against the walls, and the furniture itself must be moved at least three feet away from any area scheduled to be painted.

Wall-mounted items will be removed by the CPFM staff unless they are fragile or of high value. In such cases, occupants are responsible for removing these items in advance to ensure their safety.

Special Instructions:  Individuals who are sensitive to smells may wish to arrange with their supervisor for an alternate workspace, work remotely, or consider taking leave during the period their office is being painted.

Oregon Hall East Overhead View

9/02/25 – 11/21/25 CPFM Administration Quonset 2nd Floor Remodeling Advisory

UPDATE #2  10/30/25:
Tomorrow, Friday, October 31st, Air Inc. will be balancing the HVAC system for both the 1st and 2nd floors. They will be in each room at least twice and potentially up to four times.
– Also, the completion date has been extended to Friday, November 21st.

UPDATE #1 10/30/25:
The contractor just informed us that he will be cutting some metal tabs in the wall upstairs.  It is expected to be very loud.  Depending on the type of metal they are made of will determine how long the noise will last, potentially up to 30 minutes.

UPDATE 10/24/25:
UO Network Services has installed one of the new wireless access points outside of room 104 but will get the remaining two in next week, between Monday, 10/27/25 and Thursday, 10/30/25.

UPDATE 10/20/25:
UO Network Services will be installing three (3) new wireless hubs on the first floor outside of rooms 104 and 120 as well as in the main lobby near the reception desk.

  • Workers will not be in the area the entire duration.
  • The dates and times given are a window when Network Services could be performing work.
  • There may be some noise and passageways could be blocked.

UPDATE 10/14:
The contractor will begin cutting into the roof for the two new skylights.  Loud noise can be expected for roughly an hour and half.  They are planning to start by 10:30 am.

UPDATE 10/01:
Steam / chilled water lines will be replaced in rooms 210A, 210, and 212.
There should be no impact to the heating / cooling in the rest of the building.
There will be construction noise associated with the pipe replacement and increased foot traffic in the building.
Work will be done by Harvey & Price and Preferred Construction.

UPDATE 9/15:
The contractor just notified us that they will begin staging today near the south side of the building, by the picnic table.  It is also expected that the construction noise levels will begin to elevate in the building, potentially this afternoon.

UPDATE 9/04:
Abatement work will begin on Tuesday, September 9th at 8:30 am and will end on Friday, September 12th at 3:30 pm.
Work will be performed by Asbestos Abatement Contracting, LLC.

UPDATE 8/29:
BELCO Electric will begin removing electrical and conduit this afternoon 8/29/25.  The abatement work has been postponed and will now begin Monday, September 8, 2025 at 8:00 am.

UPDATE 8/26:
Campus Planning is relocating to Rainier during the renovation of their space on the 2nd floor of Building #136. Moving will occur Thursday, August 28th from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon.  Please expect increased activity at both sets of stairs in the Quonset.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Please do not flush anything other than toilet paper to prevent the system from clogging.  The current pumps do not have the ability to break down other materials like wipes or hygiene products.  Notices will be placed in the restrooms tomorrow regarding this issue.  Thank you for your understanding.

The emergency repair has been completed and all services are back to normal.

Scope:  All sanitary lines for the 1st floor north end have been shut down for an emergency repair.  The sanitary sewer pit on the east side of the building will be cleaned out.  An update will be sent when the drain lines have been restored to service.

Services Impacted:

  • This affects the drinking fountains, sinks, and restrooms on the north end, 1st floor only.
  • The 2nd floor north end and the south end of the building are not impacted and drain lines are working in these sections.

Special Instructions:  Please use the drinking fountains, restrooms, and sinks on the 2nd floor or in the south end of the building.

The painter will be here Monday, July 14th, to complete the touch-up work around the light fixtures and scuppers. He will be passing through the common hallway to access the courtyard.  A specific time was not given.
