  • Thursday 10/16 thru Friday 10/17 – Plumbing work re new compressed air conduit will be run from east side of room at tie in over to the west side of room to new manifold/ shut off valves.
  • Thursday 10/23 thru Friday 10/24 – Electrical work re new circuit(s) at electrical panel at east wall, new power/ conduit will be run over to west side of room to new outlets.

Services Impacted:

  • Please avoid entering the work zone. Contractors will be using ladders for overhead work.
  • No compressed air for the Labs in the building during new shut off valve installation at Lab 200 – new valve will be installed by 10 AM on Thursday 10/16, service will be returned by 10 AM.
  • Soldering of copper conduit will occur on Thursday 10/16 but will be limited in duration – there will be a burning plastic smell, protection will be in place, a fire watch will be in place.

Scope:  Painting is scheduled to take place in Oregon Hall Dean of Students suite starting Monday, September 29. In preparation for this work, all items must be removed from the walls designated for painting, and a minimum three-foot clearance must be maintained in front of these surfaces. Personal belongings should be cleared from any furniture positioned against the walls, and the furniture itself must be moved at least three feet away from any area scheduled to be painted.

Wall-mounted items will be removed by the CPFM staff unless they are fragile or of high value. In such cases, occupants are responsible for removing these items in advance to ensure their safety.

Special Instructions:  Individuals who are sensitive to smells may wish to arrange with their supervisor for an alternate workspace, work remotely, or consider taking leave during the period their office is being painted.

Scope:  The Gymnasium Improvement Project includes:

  • Basement level – upgrading vertical access from grade to basement, updating basement restrooms for all user access, adding changing rooms, shower rooms, lockers, new drinking fountain with bottle fill, updating/refreshing the weight room.
  • First floor – new drinking fountain with bottle fill, updating/refreshing the main lobby.
  • General building – new hot water heater.

Services Impacted:

  • Facilities staff located in the basement will not be able to use the stairs or areas where cordoned off for scheduled construction.
  • Users of the first-floor gym will still have access.
  • There will be no hot water in the building due to the scheduled plumbing work.
  • A portion of the east/west sidewalk at south side of building and a portion of the parking spaces at south side of building will be affected.

9/02/25 – 11/21/25 CPFM Administration Quonset 2nd Floor Remodeling Advisory

UPDATE #2  10/30/25:
Tomorrow, Friday, October 31st, Air Inc. will be balancing the HVAC system for both the 1st and 2nd floors. They will be in each room at least twice and potentially up to four times.
– Also, the completion date has been extended to Friday, November 21st.

UPDATE #1 10/30/25:
The contractor just informed us that he will be cutting some metal tabs in the wall upstairs.  It is expected to be very loud.  Depending on the type of metal they are made of will determine how long the noise will last, potentially up to 30 minutes.

UPDATE 10/24/25:
UO Network Services has installed one of the new wireless access points outside of room 104 but will get the remaining two in next week, between Monday, 10/27/25 and Thursday, 10/30/25.

UPDATE 10/20/25:
UO Network Services will be installing three (3) new wireless hubs on the first floor outside of rooms 104 and 120 as well as in the main lobby near the reception desk.

  • Workers will not be in the area the entire duration.
  • The dates and times given are a window when Network Services could be performing work.
  • There may be some noise and passageways could be blocked.

UPDATE 10/14:
The contractor will begin cutting into the roof for the two new skylights.  Loud noise can be expected for roughly an hour and half.  They are planning to start by 10:30 am.

UPDATE 10/01:
Steam / chilled water lines will be replaced in rooms 210A, 210, and 212.
There should be no impact to the heating / cooling in the rest of the building.
There will be construction noise associated with the pipe replacement and increased foot traffic in the building.
Work will be done by Harvey & Price and Preferred Construction.

UPDATE 9/15:
The contractor just notified us that they will begin staging today near the south side of the building, by the picnic table.  It is also expected that the construction noise levels will begin to elevate in the building, potentially this afternoon.

UPDATE 9/04:
Abatement work will begin on Tuesday, September 9th at 8:30 am and will end on Friday, September 12th at 3:30 pm.
Work will be performed by Asbestos Abatement Contracting, LLC.

UPDATE 8/29:
BELCO Electric will begin removing electrical and conduit this afternoon 8/29/25.  The abatement work has been postponed and will now begin Monday, September 8, 2025 at 8:00 am.

UPDATE 8/26:
Campus Planning is relocating to Rainier during the renovation of their space on the 2nd floor of Building #136. Moving will occur Thursday, August 28th from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon.  Please expect increased activity at both sets of stairs in the Quonset.

9/21/23 – 9/22/23 Campus Move In Traffic and Parking Impacts Advisory
Posted on

As the UO welcomes new resident students to campus, Transportation Services would like to make you aware of some upcoming traffic and parking impacts that are expected the week of September 18th. To help accommodate this large move-in process, we encourage parkers to avoid parking lots around the residence halls this week.

Traffic impacts related to street closures near residence halls on 9/21 and 9/22:

  • Agate Street and portions of 13th, 15th, and 17th Avenues will be restricted to Move-in traffic and vehicles on UO business.
  • All 13th Ave. traffic must enter from 13th Ave. and Franklin Blvd. and should expect delays.
  • Permit holders will be able to access UO lots but should expect delays.
  • 13th Ave. between University and Agate Streets will be restricted to westbound traffic only.
  • The 13th Ave. Garage will be open to permit holders.
  • Lots 29A, 29D, 33, 36A and 37 will be reserved for Move in.

6/23/23 – 10/30/23 Heritage Renovation Project Informational Bulletin

UPDATE 10/25/23:
Fortis Construction is fully mobilizing onto the Project site beginning October 30th.  Work activity for the removal for restoration of the University and Villard Hall windows will also commence, as well as interior building demolition within the two buildings and continue for the next few months.

NOTICE AND REMINDER 8/08/23:

  • Villard Hall Theatre Arts department move has been completed.
  • Parking Lot 9 is enclosed by construction fencing and no longer open to public access.
  • Villard Hall abatement staging began today and abatement activity will continue into September.
  • Villard Hall is closed and open only to authorized abatement and construction contractors and university personnel.

 

REMINDER 7/17/23:

  • July 17, Fortis Construction began setting up construction fencing and closing off access to Parking Lot 9. Initial construction fencing will enclose Villard Hall as well, limiting access into the building.  Sidewalks/pathways on the north and east sides of Villard will remain open.
  • Villard Hall department moves are scheduled for July 19-21.
  • Villard Hall abatement is scheduled to begin August 7 and will continue into September.
  • Access into University Hall will continue until the end of the second summer class session, August 18. (But parking lot will be offline for vehicles)

Scope:  General information for summer activity associated with the Heritage Renovation Project (exterior historic preservation and interior remodel of University and Villard Halls) are outlined as follows:

    • Contractors Fortis Construction and GBC Construction will periodically be in both Villard Hall and University Hall prior to established department move dates for pre-abatement and demolition investigations and activity.  When the department move dates are reached and moves completed, the buildings will be off-line for access without specific approval.  Once abatement starts, the buildings and site will be fully restrictive access.
    • The parking area between University and Villard Halls will remain open until July 16. Beginning July 17, Fortis Construction will begin setting up construction fencing and closing off access to this parking area. Initial construction fencing will enclose Villard Hall as well, limiting access into the building.
    • Villard Hall department moves are scheduled for July 19-21.
    • Villard Hall abatement is scheduled to begin August 7 and will continue into September.
    • Access into University Hall will continue until the end of the second summer class session, August 18. (But parking lot will be offline for vehicles)
    • University Hall: Mathematics department move is scheduled for August 21-23. Construction fencing to enclose University Hall is targeted to begin in this time period as well.
    • University Hall abatement is scheduled to begin September 4 and will continue into October.
    • In conjunction with construction fencing installation, vehicular and pedestrian pathway closure and rerouting signage will be put in place.

Scope:  Housing will be receiving many deliveries in large trucks over the next several weeks and the first to arrive will be Monday morning. A 53’ truck and 40’ Dumpster will be placed on 15th just south of LLC south and will likely remain there for the week until Thursday or Friday. (see diagrams below)

Services Impacted:  The trucks will enter campus going north on University Street and turn east on 15th (see below).
