Building(s) or Area(s) Affected:  Walkway between Straub and Young Hall on the South end of Straub.

Scope:  We will be pulling our boom lift into the egress walkway on the south end of Straub Hall to reach gutter downspouts inside the south courtyard.  We will be working above the S196 stairwell exit on the downspout collection boxes.

Services Impacted:  There will be no egress in or out of the south Straub courtyard on this walkway.

7/09/25 – 1715 Franklin 1st Floor North End Emergency Sanitary Line Shutdown

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Please do not flush anything other than toilet paper to prevent the system from clogging.  The current pumps do not have the ability to break down other materials like wipes or hygiene products.  Notices will be placed in the restrooms tomorrow regarding this issue.  Thank you for your understanding.

 

UPDATE:
The emergency repair has been completed and all services are back to normal.

Building(s) or Area(s) Affected:  1715 Franklin – 1st floor only on the north end of building

Scope:  All sanitary lines for the 1st floor north end have been shut down for an emergency repair.  The sanitary sewer pit on the east side of the building will be cleaned out.  An update will be sent when the drain lines have been restored to service.

Services Impacted:

  • This affects the drinking fountains, sinks, and restrooms on the north end, 1st floor only.
  • The 2nd floor north end and the south end of the building are not impacted and drain lines are working in these sections.

Special Instructions:  Please use the drinking fountains, restrooms, and sinks on the 2nd floor or in the south end of the building.

7/15/25 – 7/31/25 Columbia St. and E. 17th Public Improvement Project and Traffic Advisory

Building(s) or Area(s) Affected:  Central Kitchen, Traffic on E. 17th and Columbia St., Neighboring building traffic

Scope:  Public improvement project to install new manholes and extend public storm and sanitary lines to the Next Gen project site. Work will be completed in the south portion of the intersection of E. 17th and Columbia St., in Columbia St. between E. 17th and the north entrance of the Central Kitchen, and the north potion of the Central Kitchens parking/loading area.

Services Impacted:  Local traffic will be able to travel along E. 17th, but traffic will be limited and controlled while work in done in the intersection. During this period there will be a temporary closure to Columbia St. between E. 17th and the Central Kitchen.

Scope:  Roto Rooter will change out of the grease trap in the Klamath Hall basement in Mechanical room # B029 that is connected to Price Science Cafe and upper restroom floor drains.

Services Impacted

  • The Price Science Commons upper restroom and café will be shut down during this time.
  • Odor can be expected from this activity.

Special Instructions:  Please use the restrooms downstairs.

UPDATE:
While repairs are made to the sewage lift station, seven parking spaces (#8 – #14) will be blocked off for the contractor’s pump truck.  These spots are located directly in front of the east entrance.

Scope:  Due to sewage lift station repair/upgrade, all drain piping will be out of service on the first and second floor of the north wing until repairs are complete.

Services Impacted:  This will impact usage of domestic hot and cold water in all sinks, toilets, urinals, and drinking fountains.

Special InstructionsPlease use restrooms and sinks in the south wing.
