8/09/24 Huestis Hall Steam System Shutdown

Scope:  The steam system will be temporarily shut down to install a condensate blowdown valve for maintenance purposes.

Services Impacted:

  • Huestis Basement: Depending on the outside air temperature, the AHUs and LEFs that serve the basement may need to be shut down to avoid unheated air blowing into occupied spaces.
  • Huestis all floors: Domestic hot water will be offline during this outage.

Scope:  To complete electrical coordination work between Huestis and Lokey Labs, three (3) separate electrical shutdowns are required as follows:

August 7, 2024, from 5:00 am – 7:00 am
– Lokey Labs: Brief 15-minute normal power shut down to Lokey Labs panel 2N5
– Huestis basement: 2-hour lighting outage in Huestis zebrafish facility 16A and 16B.

August 21, 2024, from 6:00 am – 8:00 am Standby Power
– Lokey Labs: Standby panel 2S2 will be offline. Kurt Langworthy to shut down servers prior to the event.
– Lokey Labs and Huestis Hall: Network will be down
– Huestis Hall: Siemens BAS will be affected by network disruptions, alarms are anticipated
– Huestis Basement: Standby power to Suite 34 will be offline.

August 29, 2024, from 6:00 am – 8:00 am
– Lokey Labs: Brief 15-minute standby and normal power shutdown to Lokey Labs panel 2N5.
– Lokey Labs: Siemens BAS will be affected, alarms are anticipated.

Special Instructions:  Please shut down and unplug all multi-function copier devices as well as any printers during scheduled power outages. Scope:  Geotech will be working in the east campus area in the blocks bounded by Columbia Street, 17th Ave, Moon Lee Lane, and 19th. A total of 6 borings will take place, be aware that there will be a small drill rig in the area. This work will take 1 week as they move from location to location.

8/05/24 Klamath Hall HVAC Control System Shutdown

This work has been completed and the HVAC system has been restored to service.

Scope:  The HVAC system will be shut down to do necessary work on the building HVAC controls system.  This will require all building HVAC systems to be offline for 12 hours.

Services Impacted:

  • This will affect all heating, cooling, exhaust systems and fume hoods.
  • Fume hood sashes will need to be closed and containers within the fume hoods sealed prior to this date.

Scope:  Due to a remodel of Lokey/CAMCOR Lab 096, the fire suppression system will be temporarily shut down and modified.

Services Impacted: This will only affect room 096.

Details:  Horns, Strobes, and Speakers on the fire alarm system will not sound after the scheduled time. Provisions have been taken to monitor the building fire systems during this time and alarms that occur after the scheduled time should be considered real events and occupants should evacuate as usual per the U of O Emergency Procedures.

Services Impacted:  Riverfront Parkway from Franklin Blvd,, underneath the railroad tracks to the job site, will see occasional construction traffic.

The steam shutdown this afternoon and tomorrow will impact the domestic hot water temperatures affecting showers, sinks, and the pool.

 

UPDATE 7/18:
The Erb Memorial Union will not be impacted by this shutdown.  The only buildings that will be affected are Esslinger Hall, McArthur Court, and the Student Rec Center.

Building(s) or Area(s) Affected:  Sidewalk north of Carson Hall along E. 13th Avenue

Scope:  104 linear feet of sidewalk along E. 13th Ave., from the NW corner of Carson Hall to the NW edge of the loading dock lane, will be removed and replaced with a new sidewalk.  The contractor just notified us that they will begin the concrete cutting today at noon.

Services Impacted:

  • This section of sidewalk will be closed for approximately a week.
  • Related construction noise can be expected.
  • The loading dock will remain accessible during the project.

Scope:  Be advised that Central Plant staff is in process of adding water to the TES tank in the “back 40”, and as part of that there is a fire hose run across the roadway between the back of the plant and the TES tank, and it is now blocked off – see picture.

UPDATE:
Western Asphalt will be back on Monday morning, August 5th, to paint the EV and ADA spaces.  The three lots listed will be shut down Sunday night and closed throughout the day on Monday.  However, once the paint is dry, the signs will be removed and the lots will be reopened.
