3/13/23 Collier House Room 207 Abatement Project Advisory

Beginning on Monday, 3/13/23, restroom 207 will be off-line for a flooring replacement project. The floor tiles within that space are asbestos-containing, so the University has retained a licensed asbestos abatement contractor to perform the demolition phase as an asbestos abatement project. All removal work will be completed within a full negative pressure enclosure using HEPA air filtration units in strict adherence to regulatory requirements, and will be overseen by UO Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S).

Installation of new flooring materials will be performed by Campus Planning and Facilities Management (CPFM) after abatement work is complete.

Scope:  Due to the elevator modernization project, and associated ongoing construction, the first and second floor restrooms immediately adjacent to the elevator will be closed for the duration of Winter Break. In addition, the elevator will be out of service during this time.

Services Impacted:

  • Restrooms #172, #173, #272, #273 will be shut down.  Please see map below for nearby facilities in HEDCO.
  • The elevator will be offline.  Please use the stairs to the north of the elevator or by classroom 176.

UPDATE:
The fire water line shutdown will still occur 5/14 as scheduled, however the domestic water shutdown has been rescheduled for next Saturday, May 21, due to delays in materials.  Willamette Hall will also be affected by the domestic water shutdown on Saturday, May 21st.

 

 

Fire Water Line:  Saturday, May 14th, 2022 from 7:00 am till 3:00 pm

Domestic Water Line:   Saturday, May 21st, 2022 from 7:00 am till 3:00 pm

Building(s) or Area(s) Impacted:  Huestis Hall and Lokey Labs (and Willamette Hall 5/21)

Scope:  As part of the Huestis Hall Renovation project, the main domestic water line and fire water line will be shut down on Saturday for 8 hours.

Services Impacted:  All services that need water will be unavailable during this time. This could include lab equipment, HVAC building equipment, fire sprinkler systems, and restroom plumbing services.

Details:  Horns, Strobes, and Speakers on the fire alarm system will not sound after the scheduled time. Provisions have been taken to monitor the building fire systems during this time and alarms that occur after the scheduled time should be considered real events and occupants should evacuate as usual per the U of O Emergency Procedures.

UPDATE 4/18: The first hour (from 6am to 7am), ALL of Esslinger, and the NW corner of the Student REC Center of will be without power. After 7am, the noted spaces for Esslinger will continue to be offline until 4pm.

UPDATE: A contractor is removing carpet and baseboard from H190, building a containment, and drying the wall finishes in the area. The first floor restrooms will be closed until approximately 10:00 AM on Monday October 4, 2021. Diagram is attached.
