Scope:  CPFM Solid Waste have moved the Lillis dumpsters for cardboard and trash to the corner of 13th and Kincaid due to the Spring Street Faire. We will provide daily service for these dumpsters during this event and will move them back into place on Monday morning, 5/15/23.

Services Impacted:  Cardboard and trash dumpsters are temporarily relocated.

Services Impacted:  The sinks will be out of order until further notice.  Other restrooms are available for use within the building.

5/24/23 Huestis Hall Basement Exhaust and HVAC Air Supply Shutdown

Scope:  As part of the Huestis Hall Renovation Project, air supply and exhaust to the basement facility will be shut down to allow for filter cleaning.  AHU 1 and 2 and Exhaust Fans 1 and 2 will be offline during this shutdown.

Services Impacted:  This will affect the exhaust and HVAC air supply.

Scope:  Starting the week of May 8th, the Mechanical shop will again implement its process for systematically deactivating the heat within steam-controlled buildings. This process can take several days depending on if any problems arise during this time.

Additional Notes:  Turning on and off the steam is very hard on the infrastructure serving our building’s mechanical systems.  Seasonal adjustments are based on the following format:

Steam is turned on in the Fall when:

  • Night-time outside air temperature is below 50 degrees for five consecutive nights
  • AND daytime temperatures are below 70 degrees for five consecutive days

Steam is turned off in the Spring when:

  • Night-time outside air temperatures are above 50 degrees for five consecutive nights
  • AND the daytime temperature is above 70 degrees for five consecutive days

The domestic water has been restored and work outside of Chapman is complete.

Scope:  The domestic hot and cold water will be shut down to repair a fire line backflow assembly located near 13th Ave, by the NW corner of Chapman Hall, however, this will not interfere with Chapman’s domestic water supply.

Services Impacted:  This will affect all of the JSMA’s domestic hot and cold water, all restrooms, and drinking fountains.

5/12/23 Knight Campus 2 Rock Chipping Testing Advisory

Scope:  There will be intermittent rock chipping testing at various locations on the Knight Campus 2 site. Measuring equipment has been placed in select and adjacent buildings to measure vibration impacts.

Services Impacted:  Buildings adjacent to the site may experience some vibration and noise during this time.

5/04/23 UOPD West University Station Possible Electrical Outage

Scope:  EWEB will be doing work in the area this evening and there is the possibility the West University Station may lose power.

Services Impacted:  Potential for electrical outage.

Special Instructions:  Please shut down and unplug all multi-function copier devices as well as any printers during scheduled power outages. Scope:  As part of the Huestis Renovation Project, the medium pressure steam will be offline temporarily to allow routing new piping in the Huestis Hall basement mechanical room.  The following equipment will be offline during this outage – Exhaust Fans 1 and 2, SHU 1 and 2 serving the AqACS facility and Supply Fan and Heat Exchanger in Willamette serving suite 34.

Services Impacted:  This will affect heating water, supply air, exhaust air, steam, and condensate.

Scope:  A large-scale sculpture will be deinstalled in the JSMA’s North Courtyard.

Services Impacted:

  • This will impact the JSMA’s parking lot (including one ADA parking spot), loading dock, security entrance, bike cage, trash collection, north courtyard, north sidewalk.
  • Crane staging and art crating will be located in the JSMA’s parking lot.
  • There will be limited access to the west end of Johnson Lane.

5/05/23 Huestis Hall Basement Fire Suppression System Emergency Shutdown

Scope:  Related to the Huestis Hall Renovation project, the fire suppression system will be offline. The contractor will conduct fire watch during this outage.

Details:  Horns, Strobes, and Speakers on the fire alarm system will not sound after the scheduled time. Provisions have been taken to monitor the building fire systems during this time and alarms that occur after the scheduled time should be considered real events and occupants should evacuate as usual per the U of O Emergency Procedures.
