The road south of ZIRC will be closed on Tuesday, November 24th, starting at 6:00 am. The road will reopen before noon.

Central Power Station Gas Meter Inspection/Work Advisory 11/12/20

Services Impacted:  They will need the access road between the plant and millrace blocked off for this work.  This will also affect the sidewalk and parking in the area.

Knight Law Steam Shutdown 11/19/20

Mill Alley (by Baker Downtown Center) Vault Repair Advisory 11/10/20 – 11/13/20, 11/18/20-11/25/20

UPDATE 11/19: The scheduling for this work on Mill Alley has changed.  The bulk of it we expect to be completed between Monday and Wednesday of next week.

UPDATE 11/16:
The excavation work on Mill Alley is likely to pick back up again on Wednesday or Thursday this week.  They’ll be working 2-3 days after that.

Science Buildings Wastewater/Hazardous Waste Advisory Fall Term 2020

The City of Eugene Public Works Wastewater team will be monitoring for compliance with the University’s wastewater discharge permit by conducting composite and grab sampling of the sanitary system during the remaining fall academic calendar. Since the university has greatly reduced on campus activities, normal sanitary system discharge volume is also at a minimum. Please ensure any hazardous wastes are routed through EHS Hazardous Waste disposal process and not illicitly discarded into laboratory sinks or other drains. A small quantity of a discarded waste in a sink, especially low or high pH materials, can have a magnified impact due to the low flow scenario, possibly resulting in a violation of allowed discharge limits. Drain disposal of any material with a pH less than 5.5 or greater than 12.0 is expressly disallowed.

Violations of allowed discharge limits can incur financial penalties, divert resources into investigation and follow-up, and negatively impact the university’s stewardship of the natural environment. Please do your part by keeping our sanitary wastewater system safe from illicit or accidental discharges. Science Buildings Emergency Clean Steam Shutdown 11/5/20 – 11/10/20

3rd UPDATE:

The clean steam is back up to the science buildings. Utilities & Energy staff have made temporary repairs to the clean steam generator. When the new parts arrive, a follow-up shutdown of clean steam will be scheduled to finalize repairs.

 

2nd UPDATE:

The problem is determined to be a faulty transducer. Parts are on order and expected to arrive next week. An update will be sent when the new parts are installed.

1st UPDATE:

  • Chemical treated 60 psi steam has been cross connected and provided for the duration of the shutdown.
  • Utility Electricians, Utility Operators, and Contactors are working on the problem until it is corrected.
  • We will send you an update when clean steam has been put back into service.
