11/13/23, 11/15/23, 11/16/23, 11/30/23 Lokey Labs Electrical Shutdowns

UPDATE 11/14/23:
Due to holiday work schedules, the electrical shutdown planned for Monday, November 20th has been moved to Thursday, November 30th.

 

Dates and Times Involved:

  • Monday, November 13, 2023, at 6:00 am to 9:00 am
  • Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at 6:00 am to 9:00 am
  • Thursday, November 16, 2023, at 6:00 am to 8:00 am
  • Monday, November 20, Thursday, November 30, 2023, at 6:00 am to 8:00 am

Building(s) or Area(s) Affected:  Lokey Labs

Scope:  As part of the Huestis Hall Renovation project, there will be a final series of electrical shutdowns necessary to complete the project of separating the feeder connections from Huestis Hall and refeed Lokey Labs. The final series of electrical shutdowns will occur on November 13, 15, 16, and 20 and will affect Lokey Labs. Affected services and durations are listed by date below.

Monday, November 13, 6:00 am – 9:00 am at Lokey Labs
6:00 am – 7:00am Lighting control panels and lights will be offline for the first hour.
6:00 am – 9:00 am This shutdown will turn off the supply air handling units and lab exhaust fans, chilled water pumps and heating water pumps for 3 hours.  Siemens will monitor for alarms.

Wednesday, November 15, 6:00 am – 9:00 am at Lokey Labs
6:00 am – 7:00 am Lighting control panels and lights will be offline for the first hour.
6:00 am – 9:00 am This shutdown will turn off the supply air handling units and lab exhaust fans, chilled water pumps and heating water pumps for 3 hours.  Siemens will monitor for alarms.

Thursday, November 16, 6:00 am – 8:00 am at Lokey Labs
All normal power supply will be offline for the 2-hour duration. Users are advised to safely power down equipment the night before or ensure that critical equipment is plugged into a standby outlet or UPS.

Monday, November 20, Thursday, November 30, 6:00 am – 8:00 am at Lokey Labs
All normal power supply will be offline for the 2-hour duration. Users are advised to safely power down equipment the night before or ensure that critical equipment is plugged into a standby outlet or UPS.

Special Instructions:  Please shut down and unplug all multi-function copier devices as well as any printers during scheduled power outages. UPDATE 10/30/23:
The shutdown today was not successful.  The shutdown of compressed air will be rescheduled for Friday, November 3rd from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm.

  • Lokey Labs will not have compressed air during this shutdown. Please shut down affected equipment.

 

UPDATE 10/23/23:
Today’s test at Willamette Hall and Streisinger Hall was unsuccessful.  CPFM Facilities has ordered additional parts and rescheduled the test for Thursday, October 26th, from 7:00 am to 12:00 noon.

 

1st Test:   Monday, October 23, 2023, at 7:00 am – 12:00 noon

2nd Test:   Thursday, October 26, 2023, at 7:00 am – 12:00 noon

Final Day:  Monday, October 30, 2023, at 7:00 am – 1:00 pm  Friday, November 3, 2023, at 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

Building(s) or Area(s) Affected:  Willamette Hall, Huestis Hall, Streisinger Hall, and Lokey Labs

Scope:  As part of the Huestis Renovation project, the campus supplied compressed air system will be offline as follows:

Monday, October 23, 2023, 7:00 am – 12:00 noon: Outage in Streisinger and Willamette Halls.

  • Streisinger and Willamette Halls – Building supplied compressed air will go offline to allow adequate testing of the emergency backup compressor units. Users will experience limited to no availability of compressed air which is likely to affect air turrets at lab benches and possibly affect building heating and cooling supply. Users should plan to limit their use of the emergency supplied compressed air during this period.
  • Huestis Hall – No impact to compressed air service anticipated during this test period.
  • Lokey Labs – No impact to compressed air service anticipated during this test period.

Monday, October 30, 2023, 7:00 am – 1:00 pm: Outage in Huestis, Lokey Labs, Willamette and Streisinger.

  • At Streisinger and Willamette Halls, following the test results of the emergency backup air supply, users will experience a lower flow of available compressed air via lab turrets. Users should plan to limit use during this period. Heating and cooling supply may be affected during this period.
  • Lokey Labs will be supplied by a temporary air compressor. Users should plan to limit use during this period.
  • Huestis Hall will not have compressed air during the shutdown. Please shut down affected equipment.

Scope:  An emergency shutdown of the HVAC system is needed to replace a failed part that is leaking on the unit.  A notice will be sent when service has been restored.

10/18/23 Lawrence Hall Electrical Shutdown

To ensure a smooth transition back into the school day, the electrical shutdown has been rescheduled for Wednesday, October 18th.  The time will remain the same (5:00 am to 7:00 am).

Building(s) or Area(s) Affected:  Lawrence Hall

Scope:  New electrical panel in Lawrence 188 must be tied in to existing, main electrical panel in Lawrence Hall.  Work will be performed early in the morning.

Services Impacted:  This will shutdown the lighting, electrical outlets, elevators, BAS controls fire alarm panels and IT closets within the building.

The shutdown to repair the leaking chilled water line will now occur on Friday, May 26th due to parts availability issues.

Scope:  In order to repair a leaking fitting, the chilled water supplying chilled beams will be shut off. The duration of the shut down will extend into the weekend to allow for the glue used to set to manufacturers specifications.

Services Impacted:  This will affect the academic spaces with chilled beams on the first and second floors. Airflow will continue, but cooling ability will be reduced until the chilled water is restored mid-day Saturday.
