9/09/24 – 9/20/24 Lokey Education Sidewalk Replacement Advisory

UPDATE:
The concrete was poured today and will be drying over the weekend.  It is currently sectioned off to prevent accidental use.
The contractor will be back on Monday to remove the forms, opening it back up to pedestrian and bicycle traffic.  However, the concrete needs to continue to cure until next Friday, Sept. 20th, before vehicle/cart traffic will be able to use it.  Signage will be posted on Monday to this effect.

Begin:  Saturday, August 31, 2024

Building(s) or Area(s) Affected:  Student Recreation Center: Midtown Courts #138, Uptown Court #293, Oldtown Courts #42 & #44, Studio #41

Scope:  The Student Recreation Center will be closed August 31st – September 15th for annual maintenance. As part of facility maintenance, hardwood floors will be screened and sealed. An outside vendor (New Dimension Hardwood Floors) will be applying a new seal to select floors. This work will begin on September 3rd with minor elements extending past the facility closure date.

Services Impacted:  The floor sealant gives off an odor that some find unpleasant. Upon consultation with the Dept. of Human Physiology, this work has been strategically scheduled to minimize impacts.

The elevator has been restored to service.

 

UPDATE 9/23/24:
Until the elevator has been restored to service, Solid Waste Services has requested that all recycling be brought down to the 1st floor collection area.  Thank you.

 

UPDATE 9/16/24:
Parts are expected to arrive the week of October 14th.  An update will be sent when it has been restored to service.

 

UPDATE 8/29/24:
A field engineer will be arriving tomorrow to work on the elevator.  Parts are being ordered, but it is unknown at this time how long it will be down.  An update will be sent when it has been restored to service.

Scope:  We have a Vac truck coming on the morning of August 26th to clean out an oil water separator tank so we can access and do maintenance on some pumps.

Services Impacted:

  • Parking stalls 1-13 will be coned off and caution tape installed Friday evening (see highlighted area in the diagram below).
  • Monday at 6:00 am the truck will roll out hose and clean out the tank.
  • The stalls will be available to use by 8:30 am after the truck leaves.

8/26/24 – 9/04/24 and 9/18/24 Lewis Integrative Science Building Scaffolding Work Advisory and Chilled Water Shutdown

UPDATE:
The chilled water line has been repaired and returned to service.

 

2nd UPDATE:
The chilled water has not been restored yet, but it is in the process of being brought back online, which takes a couple of hours.  Also, the scaffolding will stay in place until the work has been completed on the 18th.

 

UPDATE:
Due to issues with the valves, this shutdown has been halted and rescheduled for Wednesday, September 18th, from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.  Cooling has been restored to the building.

 

Contractor Prep Activity:  Week prior to September 4, 2024

Shutdown:      Wednesday, September 4 18, 2024, from 7:00 am to approximately 7:00 pm

Building(s) or Area(s) Affected:  Lewis Integrative Science Building

Scope:  The chilled water will be shut down to repair a broken 6” flange on the chilled water line in room B033.  S2 Industrial will be coming in throughout the week prior to erect scaffolding and prep the area for repair.  Then on 9/4/24 the chilled water will go down and will be drained from the basement level for repair.

Services Impacted:

  • This will affect the MRI’s, the whole building’s cooling capabilities, and cooling in the animal areas.
  • The chilled water will be offline for approximately 8 to 12 hours.
