4/11/24 – 9/27/24 Hamilton MV Electrical Infrastructure Project (MNCH Parking Lot #34A and East Lawn Area) Advisory

UPDATE – Noise Advisory for 5/22/24 – 5/26/26:
The noise advisory for 5/15/24 – 5/19/24 was set back due to an equipment delivery delay.  It has been rescheduled for Wednesday, May 22nd through Sunday, May 26th.
The overall work duration is remaining the same.  There will be construction related noise for the next few weeks as the parking lot work progresses.

UPDATE – Noise Advisory for 5/15/24 – 5/19/24 (Rescheduled for 5/22/24 – 5/26/24):
The noisiest of work occurring within the MNCH parking lot will be starting this Wednesday (5/15/24) morning, around 7:00 am. This work will be extremely noisy and high levels of vibration are to be expected, particularly within the Knight Law building, until Sunday (5/19/24) afternoon.

UPDATE – Noise Advisory for 4/29/24:
The MCNH parking lot portion of work will be kicking off on Monday 4/29/24, with saw cutting between 9:00 and 11:00 am.  The noise is expected to be around 98 dba.  Construction related noises are also to be expected for the next few weeks as the parking lot work progresses.

Begin:  Thursday, April 11, 2024

End:      Friday, September 27, 2024

Building(s) or Area(s) Affected:  Knight Law, Museum of Natural and Cultural History, Global Scholars, the Longhouse, and the East Lawn

Scope:  Starting 4/11/24, EC Electric will begin mobilizing onsite, kicking off an electrical infrastructure project for Hamilton Hall to bring increased electrical redundancy and safety to the buildings in the area. Work will be taking place within (and will be taking over, sequentially) the Knight Law parking lot, and the East Lawn area – see attached site/traffic plan for a visual perspective. The project will begin with a first phase of groundwork occurring in the Knight Law MNCH parking lot #34A, with work taking place until June, during which time the parking lot will be offline (with the exception of ADA spaces – they will remain in use). Work will then pause during June, due to several conflicts in the area, and pick back up in July with excavation work in the East Lawn area. During this portion of work the lawn will potentially be closed to use until September. We are aware this is a high use area and accordingly the work within it will be expedited as much as possible. Note this sequencing is subject to change, as well as the timing, due to many competing considerations in the area and available timing to work around them. Any changes will be communicated as they arise.

Be advised, during the parking lot work there will be periods of loud noise and vibration. The most intrusive (shoring and pile driving) is intended to be performed, as much as possible, during off hours to minimize impacts. The second phase will be less impactful, with much less noise and vibration, but will affect pedestrian travel as a large area will be blocked off the work.

Affected building managers have been notified, and consulted with, towards how best to move through the project with the least disturbances to building occupants, and all available accommodations are being made. However, with such a large-scale project there will be some unavoidable noise, vibration, and general inconveniences, which will be limited as much as possible. There will also be minor electrical shutdowns along the way, but no major effects will be noticed. Any and all outages will be communicated and coordinate well ahead of time.

Thank you in advance for your understanding, as well as for your support of this Campus improvement project.
