A piece of soffit has broken off and fallen on to the top step of the North entrance to Johnson Hall. There is a potential that other sections of this soffit may also drop. Safety and Risk Services and Campus Planning and Facilities Management are asking that all building users refrain from using the north entrance until further notice, except in case of emergency.  CPFM will be working in the area to erect a scaffold tunnel to provide a safe entrance/exit for building users and visitors. Once this safeguard is in place, the building occupants will be notified and the entrance will be put back into service. Thank you for your understanding and support of this safety measure.

1/19/23 East 13th Developments and Safety Plan

A traffic control plan has been approved and will be implemented in phases. The fence line has already been moved back to the north curb, allowing west bound bicycle traffic.

By the end of this week (1/20/23), the city plans to install water filled barriers on the portion of the street that currently has the dashed bike lane lines. This will create a protected bike/ped area on the north side of the street. This is intended to function as shared use path with both bikes and peds traveling both directions

On the south side of the street, the existing back-in parking will be removed to create an eastbound vehicle lane allowing LTD buses and other vehicles through. There will initially be a parallel parking area on the far south side of the street. This will convert to a pedestrian path when the Taylor’s redevelopment takes over the sidewalk on the south side.
