7/08/24 – 7/12/24 Huestis Hall Percent for Art Installation Advisory

Scope:  The Percent for Art installation at Huestis Hall will take place the week of July 8-12.   A crane will be set up on 13th Ave during the installation project. – See attachment images.

Services Impacted:

  • During that time, parking on 13th Ave. at Huestis Hall will be offline and pedestrians are encouraged to use the south sidewalk.
  • Egress/entry to Huestis Hall will be routed east and west to avoid the south plaza area where the installation lifts and crane will be staged.
  • On July 10-11, vehicle through access on 13th Ave. will be limited to one lane of traffic between Carson Hall and Erb Memorial Union.
  • Contractor will provide flaggers.

Special Instructions:  Given the limited access on 13th, deliveries and other through way vehicular activities are requested to limit deliveries or temporarily reroute to 18th Ave and University Street.

3/13/24 – 4/05/24 Huestis Hall Exterior Work and Move-In Advisory

Begin:  Wednesday, March 13, 2024

End:      Friday, April 5, 2024

Building(s) or Area(s) Affected:  Huestis Hall and surrounding area

Scope:  The Huestis Hall Deferred Maintenance Project is nearing final completion and the following is a list of upcoming work and impacts around the building:

  • March 13 – Mulching around the south and east
  • March 21 – Construction fencing will be removed on the south and east sides of Huestis Hall.
  • March 22 – April 5 – Construction fencing will remain in place around the Streisinger courtyard to allow for the following site activities:
    • The Coast Redwood tree removal. The growth habit of this tree species in the location poses a risk to infrastructure, property, and life.
    • Replanting, mulching, and landscape repairs in the courtyard and west walkway between Huestis and Willamette Halls.
  • March 25 – Construction trailer will be removed from the site on E. 13th Ave.
  • April 1 – 30 – Occupant move in activities
  • May TBD – Exterior art work installation on the exterior brick of the south stair tower

Services Impacted:  This will affect parking, roadways, and sidewalks in the area.  Noise can also be expected from the activities listed above.

12/14/23 – 12/15/23 Tykeson Hall Art Sculpture Repair and Access Advisory

Begin:  Thursday, December 14, 2023

End:      Friday, December 15, 2023

Building(s) or Area(s) Affected:  Tykeson Hall

Scope:  Repairs will be made to the Percent for Art sculpture in open stair 001 at the north end of Tykeson Hall.  Contractors will be actively working on all levels but predominately on the basement level.

Services Impacted:  Stairs may be temporarily blocked and inaccessible as repairs are made on floors 1-4.

Special Instructions:  Occupants are encouraged to use the south stair 002 or the elevator.

12/04/23 – 12/15/23 Lewis Integrative Science Building Artwork Installation Advisory

UPDATE 12/15/23:
Installation work is complete. All walkways between Streisinger and LISB are open.

 

UPDATE 12/5/23:

Access to and through Lewis Integrative Science Building has changed:

  • Pedestrians will be routed around equipment and are encouraged to find alternate paths. See attached mobilization plans for active work areas (blue) and pedestrian pathways (green).  Elevators in LISB will be open and available throughout the project.   Pedestrians traveling between Streisinger and LISB need to be prepared to travel to the 3rd floor of Klamath and the 4th floor of Streisinger to connect to LISB or travel outside and use the north entrance of LISB.

Building(s) or Area(s) Affected:  Lewis Integrative Science Building (LISB) and Streisinger Hall

Scope:  Artwork will be installed, over the next two weeks, in the west entry atrium of the Lewis Integrative Science Building.

Services Impacted:

  • During this installation, the lifts will be mobilized on LISB level 1.5 and periodically on each landing between LISB and Streisinger while overhead work is underway.
  • Pedestrians will be routed around equipment and are encouraged to find alternate paths. See attached mobilization plans for active work areas (blue) and pedestrian pathways (green).  Elevators in LISB will be open and available throughout the project.   Pedestrians traveling between Streisinger and LISB need to be prepared to travel to the 3rd floor of Klamath and the 4th floor of Streisinger to connect to LISB or travel outside and use the north entrance of LISB.
  • Occupants on Streisinger 4th floor should find an alternate path through Streisinger when the lift is on the LISB walkway.
  • See attached mobilization plans for active work areas (blue) and pedestrian pathways (green).
  • There will be construction related noises as the artwork is installed into concrete structure on December 4 -8.
  • Overhead work will continue through the week of December 11.

1/17/23 – 1/19/23 JSMA Large Sculpture Installation Advisory

Begin:  Tuesday, January 17th, 2023, at 7:00 am

End:      Thursday, January 19th, 2023, at 5:00 pm

Building(s) or Area(s) Impacted:  Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art

Scope:  A large-scale sculpture will be installed in the JSMA’s North Courtyard during the third week of January.

Services Impacted:

  • This will impact the JSMA’s parking lot (including one ADA parking spot), loading dock, security entrance, bike cage, trash collection, north courtyard, north sidewalk.
  • Crane staging and art uncrating will be located in the JSMA’s parking lot.
  • There will be limited access to the west end of Johnson Lane.

Rainier Building HVAC Shutdown 9/20/21

Scope:  Each HVAC unit will be shut down for approximately ½ – 1 day during the timeframe indicated to perform cleaning. This is part of the wildfire insurance response project.

Services Impacted:  This will impact the main building air and should not affect mini-splits and local temperature control units.

University Health Services North Entrance Artwork Installation Advisory 7/19/21 – 7/28/21

Scope:  North entrance artwork will be reinstalled.

Services Impacted:  Throughout the installation period there will be times when people entering the building through the north entrance will be detoured through the north stairwell door near the main entrance.

Price Science Commons Art Installation 3/19/21 – 4/4/21

DATE REVISION:

The 1% for Art installation was not completed on March 28th.  The artist and installation crew will work in the evenings, 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm, March 31st – April 4th, to complete the project.

 

 

Begin:  Friday, March 19th, 2021

End:      Sunday, March 28th April 4th, 2021

Building(s) or Area(s) Impacted:  Price Science Commons – Area 01B

Scope:  A 1% for Art piece will be installed in the lower level, open area south of the base of the stairs, in the 2-story open area – see Book Plan view. The artist and installers will be working week and weekend days during this period.  The installers will make use of scaffolding and scissor lifts.

Services Impacted:  The area of impact will be signed and safely cordoned off.

Extra Notes:  They will use the Onyx Bridge loading dock each morning to off-load equipment and material, and may return at end of day to pick up items as may be required.
