Scope:  The parking lot between Villard Hall and University Hall (Lot #9) will be closed to general parking for Heritage Project landscaping work and art footing installation. The mornings of 12/1 and 12/2, between 5:00 am and 8:00 am, there will be a Vac-X truck removing some soil in some of the planters. Following that work (8:00 am – 4:00 pm), there will be a few days of concrete trucks and landscaping trucks using the parking lot to pour footings for an upcoming exterior art installation.

Services Impacted:

  • Parking spots, including ADA spots, will be offline in the upper lot (#9). We will make accommodations for ADA shuttle drops offs or other drops offs as needed. ADA spaces will be available for use in front of the Miller Theatre Complex.
  • The Miller Theatre Complex loading dock will still be operational.
  • The Vac-X truck will be very loud but will conclude work before 8:00 am.
  • There may be some residual noise with the concrete trucks and workers in the plaza area.

Scope:  The sidewalk on the south side of E. 13th Avenue from Agate St. to Columbia St. (the Ford Alumni Parking Lot) will be closed to accommodate work at the Hamilton Transformation project beginning on November 17 and lasting through June 2026. This will enhance safety by avoiding conflicts between heavy truck traffic and pedestrians at the entry and exit points.

  • Vehicular traffic flow will not be altered.
  • Pedestrians will be directed to cross to the north side of 13th Ave at the crosswalks.

Scope:  The 2025 Fall ASUO Street Faire runs from Wednesday, October 15th through Friday, October 17th.

Services Impacted:  East 13th Avenue from University Street to Kincaid Street will be blocked for any normal traffic before and during the 2025 faire.

  • Bicycle racks, scooter racks and bollards have been removed from the street and sidewalks.  Transportation Services has placed temporary bike racks near Anstett Hall.
  • E. 13th Avenue from University Street to Kincaid Street will be blocked for any flow through traffic. Traffic will be limited to approved vendors to set up at designated times in assigned spaces. The only other automobile traffic allowed will be slow moving Accessibility Shuttle (moving west to east only), and Emergency Vehicles.
  • Departmental Delivery and Service Vehicles (including mini vehicles and golf carts such as Mailing Services, CPFM maintenance, Catering Services will not be allowed through the street between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm.
  • Outside Delivery and Service Vehicles will not be allowed through the street between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm.
  • Beginning Monday, October 20th,  CPFM staff will reinstall all bicycle racks, scooter racks, and bollards back to the street and sidewalks. Normal traffic open but extra caution should be taken while moving through the street.

9/2/25 – 9/14/25 Gerlinger Hall Second Floor Hallway Hardwood Repair Advisory

Building(s) or Area(s) Affected:  Gerlinger Hall rooms 219, 220, and hallway H218.

Scope:  A contractor will be repairing the hardwood floors in H218.  This will require them to cut out damaged sections and replace them with new boards.  They will then screen and reseal the entire space.

Services Impacted:  The hallway will be closed through the duration of the project leaving room 219 inaccessible.  Room 22o will only be accessible via the rear/west doors.  Spaces on the west side of the elevator on the second floor will be inaccessible via the elevator also.  Some noise associated with the removal of the damaged boards and the screening/sanding process can be expected.  A slight odor will be present when the sealant is being applied however, the sealant is water based and contains low VOCs.

Building(s) or Area(s) Affected:  Earl Hall – specifically the McClure, Morton, and Sheldon Halls and some access to Straub Hall north entry later in the summer

Scope:  Phase One of the Earl Hall Windows and Exterior Improvement Project will replace the windows and exterior quarry tile in the Morton and McClure Towers

Services Impacted:

  • McClure and Morton Towers will not be in use or accessible for the duration of the project which will last through the summer of 2025.
  • The green to the NW of the Earl Hall will be used for staging, affecting access and pathways.
  • Noise and construction activity is to be expected.

6/20/25 – 6/25/25 – Lawrence Hall Area and Parking Lot #12A Potholing Work Advisory

UPDATE 6/11/25:
The contractors have confirmed that work will start with scanning on 6/20/25, followed by the more invasive potholing work that will take place 6/23/25 and 6/24/25, with the possibility of bleeding into 6/25 should any unforeseen issues arise.

 

UPDATE 6/09/25:
This work has been delayed and is expected to be rescheduled in a couple of weeks.  An update will be sent when the dates have been determined.

Building(s) or Area(s) Affected:  Lawrence Hall east entryway, adjacent parking spaces, and lot area between Lawrence Hall and Cascade West buildings

Scope:  An excavation contractor will be performing exploratory work (potholing) in the area, including scanning and sampling the area to determine the proper location and depths of items to be worked around, on, and through, for upcoming electrical work.

Services Impacted:

  • During the duration of this work, pedestrian and vehicular travel will be compromised, but not greatly, and some parking will be unavailable. Location of work and alternate paths of travel, show in the attached site plan, have been included for your use.
  • Additionally, there will be light construction vehicle noise, as well as more pronounced, but intermittent, construction noise while excavation tasks are occurring. These will be limited, though, so pronounced inconveniences are not expected.
