10/24/25 – 10/25/25 Millrace Drive Geotechnical Drilling and Traffic Advisory

Begin:  Thursday, October 24, 2024, at 7:00 am

End:      Friday, October 25, 2024, at 5:00 pm

Building(s) or Area(s) Affected:  Millrace Drive at Millrace waterway

Scope:  EWEB’s contractor Foundation Engineering Inc. will be conducting a geotechnical investigation on Millrace Drive and will be drilling two boring holes.

Services Impacted: 

  • This will require the use of drilling equipment in the street which may result in noise.
  • Millrace Drive will be closed, but access to all driveways and sidewalks will be maintained.

8/15/24 – 8/16/24 Friendly Hall Bore Hole Drilling Advisory

Begin:  Thursday, August 15, 2024, at 7:00 am

End:      Friday, August 16, 2024, at 5:00 pm

Building(s) or Area(s) Affected:

Scope:  In preparation for the Friendly Hall Deferred Maintenance Project, geotech consultants will be working in the area around the building. A total of 3 borings will be completed with a small drill rig. The work should take 1 day to complete, and the start date will depend on the schedule of completion in southeast campus.

Services Impacted:

  • Drilling related noises can be expected.
  • Sidewalk and parking access may also be affected.

Begin:  Monday, August 12, 2024, at 8:00 am

End:      Friday, August 16, 2024, at 5:00 pm

Building(s) or Area(s) Affected:  Central Kitchen, Museum Natural and Cultural History facilities, and residential family housing

Scope:  Geotech will be working in the east campus area in the blocks bounded by Columbia Street, 17th Ave, Moon Lee Lane, and 19th. A total of 6 borings will take place, be aware that there will be a small drill rig in the area. This work will take 1 week as they move from location to location.

Services Impacted:  Drilling related noises can be expected.

Scope:  We will be performing Geo-technical soil borings near Kalapuya Ilihi.

Services Impacted:

  • The drill rig will be staged near the location of each bore, so please use caution in these areas.
  • Noise can be expected during this time.

Huestis and Willamette Pathway Closure and Geotechnical Drilling Advisory 1/5/22

Begin:  Wednesday, January 5th, 2022 at 9:00 am

Building(s) or Area(s) Impacted:  Area between Huestis and Willamette (see pic below)

Scope:  As part of Huestis Renovation Project, geotechnical drilling will occur in the lawn between Huestis and Willamette Halls.

Services Impacted:  The north-south pathway from 13th to the Streisinger Courtyard will be closed during this activity.

Knight Campus Phase 2 – Geotechnical Drilling and Road Closure Advisory 7/15/21 – 7/16/21

The work has been completed at this time.

The drilling scheduled for Friday has been cancelled.

 

Begin:  Thursday, July 15th, 2021

End:      Friday, July 16th, 2021

Building(s) or Area(s) Impacted:  Locations around Fine Arts Studios, Millrace Studios, and Greenhouses

Scope:  There will be geo-technical drilling occurring on Thursday and Friday of this week.    As we have been working through drilling more than a dozen holes in various locations, we could not predict exact timing prior to today.  (Image attached)

Thursday – Drilling two holes along the gravel road between the greenhouses and the art studios, requiring closure of the road to through traffic.

Friday – Drilling two holes between the woodshop and the Art Studios.

Services Impacted:

  • The drilling should have minimal impact.
  • Lot 4 will be open for parking during this time.
  • The gravel road between the greenhouses and art studios will be closed on Thursday.
    • FS staff will need to re-route up Onyx, for those vehicles that use that road as a daily route.
    • Access for Greenhouse researchers has already been coordinated.

ZIRC Geotechnical Shallow Drilling Advisory 1/29/2020

Begin:  Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at 8:00 am

End:      Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at 5:00 pm

Building or Area Impacted:  Area around ZIRC

Scope:  A geotechnical investigation will be performed to gather subsurface information around ZIRC.  A trailer-mounted drill rig will be used to complete two shallow borings.

Services Impacted:  Access to the parking lot, street, and sidewalk, with the potential to affect parking in the highlighted area below.

Lot East of UO Police Department Bore Sample Drilling Advisory 12/10/19

Begin:  Tuesday, December 10th at 7:00 am

End:  Tuesday, December 10th at 5:00 pm

Building(s) or Area(s) Impacted:  vacant land east of the UO police department between Franklin Boulevard and East 15th Avenue

Scope:  Large drilling equipment will be on site to obtain boring samples for geo technical investigation.

Geotechnical Investigations Advisory 9/26 – 9/28

Campus Community,

Design and Construction will be conducting geotechnical investigations related to the new residence halls project from September 26-28. This work will consist of a drill rig taking boring samples for soils analysis at the locations noted in the drawing. Impacted areas will be locations around Hamilton Hall, Walton Hall, and the Humpy Lumpy Lawn area.

Mobilization and drilling activity will start at 9 AM each of the three days.
