Building(s) or Area(s) Affected:  Klamath Hall – See attached spreadsheet for affected areas

Scope:  As part of the Klamath LEF/VFD upgrade, the mechanical contractor will be shutting down lab exhaust fans sequentially in order to upgrade the fan motors and their accessories.

Services Impacted:

  • During this work, airflow will be lessened substantially, but some will remain (in hoods, general building exhaust, etc.) as the ductwork is interconnected. However, we do not recommend using fume hoods or other equipment tied into the exhaust system during this work as appropriate airflows will not be provided.
  • Also, while the exhaust flow is lessened, there will be minor positive pressure fluctuations until the system is returned to normal operation.
The north side fans will be shut down on 9/19/23 10/10/23, with the south side fans to follow on 9/20/23 10/11/23. Both shutdowns will be for a full days’ time, with each fan coming back online the following day, individually.

8/22/23 Klamath Hall Lab Exhaust Fans Shutdown

Begin:  Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at 8:00 am

End:      Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at 2:00 pm

Building(s) or Area(s) Affected:  Klamath Hall

Scope:  As part of the Klamath LEF/VFD upgrade, the mechanical contractor will be shutting down lab exhaust fans sequentially in order to take field measurements required for proper equipment sizing. During this work, airflow will be lessened substantially, but some will remain (in hoods, general building exhaust, etc.) as the ductwork is interconnected. However, we do not recommend using fume hoods or other equipment tied into the exhaust system during this work as appropriate airflows will not be provided.
Also, while the exhaust flow is lessened, there will be minor positive pressure fluctuations until the system is returned to normal operation.
The fans system is split to serve the north (EF1&2) and south (EF-3&4) side of the buildings, and within the attached spreadsheet you will be able to see which rooms will be affected during the course of this (and future) shutdowns.
The listed timespan is assumed to be accurate, but we will attempt to expedite the work as much as possible.
Thank you for your understanding.

Services Impacted:  This will affect the exhaust system serving the basement, ground level, 1st, and 2nd floors.
