Culver Glass has rescheduled this for tomorrow, Tuesday, November 18th, starting at 8:00 am.

UPDATE 11/13/25:
Culver Glass just informed us that this has been postponed due to some emergency work and the weather.  The new date is yet to be determined.

UPDATE 11/12/25:
Culver Glass will be performing a second round of work on the exterior windows tomorrow 11/13 and Friday 11/14.

6/23/25 – 10/31/25 Portland Holman Apartment Buildings North and South Exterior Work Advisory

UPDATE 10/16/25:
The end date for the north building has been extended to Friday, October 31st, and post construction will include landscape repair.

  • Construction fencing and scaffolding have been removed.
  • Quiet construction work is to be expected for the duration of the effort with work in apartment interiors.
  • Landscape repair will start on October 20th and continue to completion up to October 31st.  Garden beds surrounding both north and south buildings will get refreshed.
  • Additional tree stump grinding has been scheduled for Monday, October 20th.

The end dates have been adjusted based on the location.  Closure dates and details have been updated and added below in bolded letters.  Also, the revised logistics map has been replaced below.

Building(s) or Area(s) Affected:  Holman Apartment Buildings North and South

Scope:  The Holman Apartments will undergo EIFS a full siding removal and siding replacement, as well window removal and replacement.  PDX NE Campus – entirety of the Holman Apartment buildings North and South, located at NE Holman Street and NE 29th Ave, are unoccupied for construction commence until construction complete.

Services Impacted:

  • E/W pedestrian access through the Holman Apartment courtyard will be closed until 9/16, as well a portion of the N/S pedestrian access between Holman Apts. and East Hall.
  • N/S pedestrian access shall remain.
  • Pedestrian access at the sidewalk to the North of the North Holman Apt building shall remain will be closed for continuation of work on the North building.
  • Accessible entry to East Hall – please use building entrance at NE 30th Ave up through 9/16. Main entry to East Hall – shall remain open.
  • There will be construction related noise for the duration of the effort.
  • Tree trimming/removal/chipping by Owner on 6/26 and stump grinding the week of 9/15 will also be noisy.

Holman Apartment Buildings Revised Logistics 9-11-25

10/02/24 -10/03/24 Thompson’s University Center Stairwells S202 & S302 Closure Advisory

Begin:  Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at 8:00 am

End:      Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 5:00 pm

Building(s) or Area(s) Affected:  Thompson’s University Center – south stairwell S202 & S302

Scope:  AC Construction will be making repairs to the ceiling on the 3rd floor level of the south stairwell. During the project, Builders Electric will also be onsite to relocate the ceiling light fixture. This work has been coordinated by the Landlord.

Services Impacted:

  • This work will require scaffolding to be in place, resulting in the closure of S202 & S302 for the duration of the project.
  • Noise and odor can be expected during this work.
  • Please use the NW stairway or elevator.

8/26/24 – 9/04/24 and 9/18/24 Lewis Integrative Science Building Scaffolding Work Advisory and Chilled Water Shutdown

UPDATE:
The chilled water line has been repaired and returned to service.

 

2nd UPDATE:
The chilled water has not been restored yet, but it is in the process of being brought back online, which takes a couple of hours.  Also, the scaffolding will stay in place until the work has been completed on the 18th.

 

UPDATE:
Due to issues with the valves, this shutdown has been halted and rescheduled for Wednesday, September 18th, from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.  Cooling has been restored to the building.

 

Contractor Prep Activity:  Week prior to September 4, 2024

Shutdown:      Wednesday, September 4 18, 2024, from 7:00 am to approximately 7:00 pm

Building(s) or Area(s) Affected:  Lewis Integrative Science Building

Scope:  The chilled water will be shut down to repair a broken 6” flange on the chilled water line in room B033.  S2 Industrial will be coming in throughout the week prior to erect scaffolding and prep the area for repair.  Then on 9/4/24 the chilled water will go down and will be drained from the basement level for repair.

Services Impacted:

  • This will affect the MRI’s, the whole building’s cooling capabilities, and cooling in the animal areas.
  • The chilled water will be offline for approximately 8 to 12 hours.

5/21/24 – 12/31/24 Knight Library Exterior Restoration Project Advisory

UPDATE 10/17/24:
The construction fence and crane will be removed, and pedestrian access restored between the cemetery and Knight Library/Gerlinger Annex, by November 18th.

UPDATES for 9/26/24 through 10/04/24:
Starting next Thursday, September 26th, the scaffolding will begin to come down.  This process will take 8 days, including Saturday, and be completed on October 4th.

  • Fencing will define the work areas off limits to pedestrians, and pedestrian paths will be redirected around the construction area.
  • Construction fencing and signage will be installed to delineate construction areas from areas of egress for pedestrians.
  • The main entrances will be alternately closed depending on which section of scaffolding is being dismantled.

UPDATES for 8/15/24 through 9/06/24:
Starting tomorrow, August 15th, roofers will be doing intermittent patching on the east and west roofs of the library.  They will be using a fluid applied roofing material that will have some odor.  This phase of the work will be ongoing for the next 2-3 weeks.

UPDATES for 7/11/24 through 8/16/24:

  • Starting July 11th, the scaffolding on the roof of the library will begin to be dismantled and reinstalled on the ground level.  This activity will be ongoing for two weeks.
  • In addition, the week of July 15th the contractor will start to install seismic reinforcing on the brick veneer of the ground level.  This will create noise from drilling through the veneer to the concrete structure behind.  This activity will be on going for 3-4 weeks.

UPDATE for 7/02/24 through 7/23/24:

  • Starting tomorrow 7/2, window contractor will be reinstalling window sashes that have been restored on the roof areas.  This activity will be on going for the next 2-3 weeks.

UPDATE for 6/20/24 through 10/15/24:
The area between Knight Library and the Cemetery will be closed to all pedestrian access from June 20 until October 15, 2024, for construction crane and roofing – see attached plan

UPDATE for 6/05/24 through 6/19/24:
For the next two weeks, masonry grinding and tuck pointing will continue.  Painters will be working on painting exterior window frames.

UPDATE 5/23/24:
There will be grinding on the exterior brick, causing noise, for the next five weeks.

Pressure washing is taking place on the exterior of Knight Library through Wednesday 5/29.

Scope:  Contractor will be setting up a stair tower on the NW corner of Knight Library, outside the café, on Friday and Saturday this week. They will be using this to transport scaffolding up to the roof in anticipation of the next phase of the Library Exterior Restoration Project.

Services Impacted:  Construction workers and equipment will be in the area.  Noise can also be expected from this activity.

Building(s) or Area(s) Affected:  McArthur Court

Scope:  Due to the installation of new duct work on the mezzanine at McArthur Court, a number of staircases will be closed as scaffolding is placed to install high runs of ductwork.

Services Impacted:  This should only affect the incoming Math department, as they start to use the upper spaces, with the exception of one unoccupied office.  There will be no staircase that is blocked, that doesn’t have a second means of access/egress.

The proposed stair closure dates are as follows:
