Services Impacted:  Fluctuations in temperatures can be expected in these rooms until the issue can be addressed.

UPDATE 12/29/25:

• January 2026 – February:  There will be one lane traffic on Agate Street at 17^th Avenue.  The work will be done in multiple phases so that activities will never fully close Agate Street or eliminate local traffic access
• February 2026 – March 2026:  17^th Avenue will have periodic closures in multiple phases. Access to the parking areas will be maintained, use of detours to reach parking areas will be needed at times.
• March 2026 – April 2026:  Columbia Street from 17^th Avenue to the south end of the Central Kitchen will have street work done in small sections on the west side of the street to allow for local one-way traffic with the support of flaggers and regular back filling.
• Summer 2026:  17^th Avenue west of Moss Street will be completely closed at times between Agate and Columbia Streets.  Local traffic will still be able to access Columbia Street north and south of 17^th Avenue from the east.

Building(s) or Area(s) Affected:  East 17^th Avenue between Moss Street and Agate Street plus Columbia Street south of East 17^th Avenue

Scope:  A privately engineered public improvement project coordinated with the City of Eugene to install new utilities will require a series of temporary road closures.  Timelines for these closures are subject to change due to unpredictable material delivery dates, inclement weather, efforts to mitigate traffic impacts, and the completion of preceding phases of the project on time.

Residences and driveways will be accessible throughout the work from at least one direction, and flaggers will be in the area to assist directing traffic.

Services Impacted:  Work will progress through the highlighted area depicted on the attached map.  Streets will be back filled regularly and plated to keep the public roads open as much as possible.

The yellow highlighted area is the initial area to be impacted starting in December and running through February, and the red dotted area shows the entire project area that will be impacted.

UPDATE 1/08/26 (date corrected 1/09):
On Tuesday, January 13^th from 6:00 – 8:00 am, there will be construction noise from room 012B. The noise will be generated by drilling into the concrete ceiling of 012B. Please expect to hear or feel vibrations throughout the east basement of the Lewis Integrative Science Building and in the suites above 012B (the MRI suite).

UPDATE 12/11/25:  Concrete drilling in B030 has been cancelled.  The concrete anchor installation in B012A have been postponed until December 18, 2025, 7:00 am – 10:00 am.

UPDATE 12/09/25:  On Monday, December 15, 2025 between 7:00 am – 9:00 am, concrete drilling in a wall shared between the basement mechanical room B030 and the lab B012A will occur.  Concrete anchors will also be installed in the ceiling of B012A that will cause vibrations and noise to occur in the spaces above, rooms 184 and 185.

Services Impacted:  Construction noise and activity can be expected with occasional planned mechanical, electrical, and plumbing system shutdowns in and around room B012B.

Scope:  Due to a failing heat exchanger, the heat to the entire building will be shut down at 3:30 pm today and remain off until tomorrow morning at 7:00 am.  The heat will be cycled on and off throughout the day tomorrow to keep the equipment from self-destructing.  This pattern will continue for as many days necessary to acquire the new part, an update will be sent out when the repair is complete.

Services Impacted:  Occupants can expect cold temperatures in the morning and fluctuations throughout the day due to the cycling of the heat on and off.

Services Impacted:  The dock will be inaccessible during this time and alternate travel routes into Onyx Bridge and Klamath Hall will be available.

Scope:  To support the Onyx Bridge EHS renovation project, a diesel generator will be placed on the sidewalk section between Cascade Annex East and Onyx Bridge.  The generator is expected to run off and on for a period of 5 or 6 hours.  A power cord covered with a cable protector will cross the adjacent sidewalk, running into Onyx Bridge.

Services Impacted:  No impediments to pedestrian traffic on the sidewalk or authorized work vehicles are expected.  Noise from the running generator can be expected in the surrounding area and nearby buildings.

Special Instructions:  Please report any Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) issues to Environmental Health and Safety.
