Hi Nutrians,
Please check your all your links…the “Why Worry” one seems broken. Will you post your Forum announcement on FB?
Looking at your site again, I can see the potential for NW Nutria merchandising opportunities. You could make NW Nutria t-shirts, stickers…maybe even a bobble head.
You could also start a NW Nutria sighting club, where people would get together and go on “Nutria hunts.” Of course, no Nutria would be injured, but club members could post photos of the spotted critters on a website and could tally how many “sightings” they’ve had. Yes, the hunt would end at a brewery…it is after all, Portland. I really think Portland people would find it all very entertaining…at least I do.
Overall, I think you guys have done a really good job developing a brand that can easily live on after this class.
Hi Helen,
Yes, we will be posting forum announcement on the Facebook page. I think Emily will be posting the event details in this page as well.
Hi Katherine,
In fact, nutria pet food seems to be an attractive proposition right now. I was just talking to a federal invasive species staff yesterday and that’s one of the things they’re looking at. Apparently, there’s so many of them now that there’s no danger of supply running out. They’re only targeting control instead of eradication.
We actually want to address the “cuteness” problem so am not sure how the nutria merchandising will work out, unless you make them interesting in the way that the “Walking Dead” zombies are “interesting.”
