As I am writing this, I am also listening to his word-rap, and with each play I appreciate more and more him calling out the obvious white and privileged favoritism in America’s consumerism, pop culture, and media biases. I can see why so many musicians and activists were enamored by his perspective on life. The Revolution Will Not Be Televised is a powerful political anthem that left me with a feeling of ‘I’m watching you, and I will know what side you’re really on.’
I looked him up on Wikipedia, and was saddened that later in life he struggled with drugs and died from complications from HIV. I do believe that his call for action will live on generation to generation, and that’s a good thing.
But it will be on Twitter…..
And now Instagram.
