Scope:  The Lab space will be remodeled, to include the installation of a glove box, a sputtering machine, and gas piping, as well as electrical and HVAC modifications.  Construction mobilization begins in December, demolition in early January, with major construction activities in February and March.

Services Impacted:  Construction noise and activity can be expected with occasional planned mechanical, electrical, and plumbing system shutdowns in and around room 012B.

  • November – January – A new Glove Box and other equipment will be installed in Lab Room 012B.

Services Impacted:

  • October – November – Minimal to no impact to the building or users is expected.
  • November – January – Work is expected to be more disruptive, additional notices will be sent out as construction activities commence.

Services Impacted:  This will primarily affect hoods on the east side of building, but all fume hoods in Cascade may be affected with zero or reduced exhaust.

Special Instructions:  Fume hood sashes should be closed and containers within the fume hoods sealed before this date.

Building(s) or Area(s) Affected:  Knight Library – north end of first floor commons (193B & 194B)

Scope:  Counters and wood grilles will be removed on the north wall of the first floor commons. New lighting, paint, and wood grille system will be installed, along with new furniture along the north wall and at the first row of columns.

Services Impacted:

  • Noise, dust, and odors may impact occupants during the construction period.
  • Return air vents will be deactivated during painting to minimize transference of paint fumes (currently scheduled for 7/29 & 7/30 but may change).

6/17/25 – 9/12/25 Lawrence Hall Reroofing Advisory

UPDATE 7/15/25:
Due to the Lawrence Reroof project, permanent fall protection equipment will be installed.  The installation will take place in the 3rd floor Lawrence hallway and is expected to take 5-6 hours to complete. This work will begin at 7:00 am on Wednesday 7/16. Sounds of electric drills and other equipment should be expected.

UPDATE 6/13/25:
Attached please find the first phase of construction impacts to the ingress and egress pathways around a section of Lawrence.  Similar updates for the next two sections will be forthcoming.  Construction on the first section of roof will commence June 19 (as listed below), but setup will begin on Tuesday 6/17.

UPDATE 6/12/25:
Due to the reroofing project, pedestrian traffic will not be allowed in the Fire Lane on the north side of Lawrence Hall.

  • Exterior pedestrian traffic will be rerouted towards Dads’ Gate on the west side and under Onyx Bridge on the east side.
  • Lawrence Hall interior traffic will be directed to other exits within the building.

3/22/25 – 3/30/25 UO Portland Campus Center Building Electrical Outage and Building Closure

End:      Sunday, March 30, 2025, at 9:00 am

Building(s) or Area(s) Affected:  UO Portland Campus Center Building

Scope:  A planned building power outage and building closure has been scheduled over spring break.  The power company will be relocating a transformer plus new electrical switchgear will be installed (electrical upgrade for building).

Services Impacted:  All building power will be offline during this time and the building will be closed.

Special Instructions:  Remove all food items from refrigerators and freezers.

Special InstructionsPlease shut down and unplug all multi-function copier devices as well as any printers during scheduled power outages. 7/22/22 – Unknown – Klamath Hall House Vacuum Down

UPDATE:  We were informed that this was previously restored.

 

REVISED:
Only one of the building’s two vacuum pump systems is down.
The operation of the fume hoods will not be impacted and are still functional.
Parts are being ordered to repair the system.

Special Instructions: Fume hood sashes should be closed and containers within the fume hoods sealed.

Beginning Friday, August 25th, until approximately Saturday, September 9th, the Student Rec’s 2nd-floor locker rooms and 3rd-floor restrooms will be closed and isolated to allow for tile replacement.  Work will occur 24/7 during this time.

This will affect the ventilation system in the above mentioned closed areas as the air handler HRV-3 will need to be shut down during this period.

Work will be performed by Howard S. Wright and their tile subcontractors.
