Lexicon Week 4

  1. Signature – A group of pages that, when laid out on a printing press, combine to form a complete document. The number and layout of signatures depends on the size and spread of the document to be printed.
  2. Hickey Picker – a tool that removes lint and dust from a printing press.

  3. DPI – Dots per inch, how many ink dots there are in a single square inch of printed material.
  4. Bleed – The area outside the margins of the document, or what will be removed during document finishing.
  5. Packaging – The placement of all related files (fonts, images, bleed settings, etc.) in a single folder so that all links are relevant and all images are the correct versions.
