About Me – the survey

I currently live in Nehalem, Oregon and commute to school. My first year was focused on understanding nonprofit management and community planning, which is also where my professional interests reside. After discovering my passion was consistently sparked by the arts, specifically through music, I joined the AAD program to focus on building resilient communities by working with community arts organizations.

As a consultant I’ve worked with many nonprofits to develop actionable plans using GIS and web-tools. I’ve been fortunate to have the opportunity to have the time and resources to explore myriad technologies and the savvy to picky them up quickly.  I’m well versed in the Adobe CS having coded multiple website with Dreamweaver and having designed graphics with Illustrator and Photoshop. I also an expert user of ArcMap and QGIS as well as a variety of open source web-based mapping systems. Finally I utilize project management software such as basecamp to connect with clients.

Once upon a time I attended Otis College of Art and Design where I was introduced to the fundamentals of art and design. Although I veered somewhat from that path to pursue my dream of restoring Oregon rivers to their full glory, I used (and still do use) these skills on a daily basis to convey the technical data to a nontechnical audience. I’m familiar with typography although I’ve always worked with fonts designed by others.

I’m a socialmediaphile and am particularly fond of Instagram, so much so that I’ve all but abandoned Facebook and Twitter to focus on inundating my feed with cat pictures. I occasionally blog, primarily to keep track of interesting articles or videos I’ve found.  I’ve also put a fair few videos up on YouTube, but the quality is low and mostly for my own amusement.

As far as a unique thing about me, I would share that I am a student of kenjitsu.
