Field Conditions

Field conditions are different ways of perceiving space. These were concepts that procured from experimental sources that interacted intentionally and face to face with reality. Spatial identity is individual while being cohesive and respecting different boundaries. This is an abstract approach to measuring spacial units, as well as testing different ways of measurement and direction.

Geometric vs Algebraic Combination

This section discussed geometric formation and harmony. Geometric shapes and forms worked cohesively together to form one larger unit, rather than many individual units that make up a larger unit.

Cubism

In this paragraph, the author discusses the effort artists put in to move beyond the limits of compositional syntax. Cubism caused minimalism to emerge, being based around materials and minimalistic formal language.

Flocks

This was discussed as different patterns of flow. While these patterns of flow were wildly different and mostly random, the patterns came together to work cohesively while still performing independently. Every flock is unique in it’s own way, regardless if a pattern of the flock is similar to another flock.

Crowd

Crowds, like flocks, have no specific movement or direction. Crowds were made up of individual paths that were intertwined to create one larger group of directions and destinations. Crowds usually overlapped and were unrefined. They were created with unintentional chaos that turned into orderly, efficient chaotic patterns.
