There are multiple ways to share your story with others.
Periodicals
A periodical could be a newspaper, magazine, or newsletter. Sometimes, it is easier to get your story into a periodical than other formats. Putting your story in a periodical also allows you to show your story to a more specific type of person (such as the local people who read the newspaper or people who have a subscription) In many cases books are the most difficult form of getting your story out. This option requires a lot of time and patience! But it is possible if you put your mind to it!
Blogs
Blogs are journals on the web that allow you to write and get your story out to the world! They are easy to set up and are often free. Your readers may also be able to comment on your ‘post’ or story. Blogs are usually the easiest method for getting your story out. Popular blogging platforms include Blogger, Tumblr, WordPress, and Posterous.
Websites
Building a full website takes some technical know-how! But everyone loves a good website. Sites can be very good ways for the world to see your story. See tips for building a website.
Video Screening
Contact your local movie house and see if they will screen your video story. This may be a good option for you especially if the movie house doesn’t charge you much money! Or maybe you can contact a school or college in your area to host a video party. A video screening can be a good way to get people in your community interested in your story and others.
Community Events
Another way of showing your work could be, for example, by holding a community event, by collaborating with your school, the local library, or even at a family reunion! Remember that the hard work that you have done in recording histories and stories should be shared with others!
Book Publishing
Self publishing is possible in today’s world. Consider writing and publishing a book about your story. See more tips on book publishing.
