Attend GEO’s Inaugural Advisor Summit in June!

Next month, Global Education Oregon will be hosting its first-ever GEO Advisor Summit, and you’re invited! Please mark your calendars for Monday, June 24, from 9am-3:30pm and be sure to RSVP by sending an email to Dana Elliott at danaell@uoregon.edu.

What Is It?

The GEO Advisor Summit is an event designed specifically for the front-line advisors and study abroad program coordinators at our partner institutions to take a deep dive into GEO programming, scholarships, professional development opportunities and more. It will be hosted on the University of Oregon campus in the GEO office. Cofffee/pastries will be provided for breakfast and there will be a hosted lunch included as well.

What’s On the Agenda?

The agenda includes in-depth looks at the major GEO centers abroad (London, Oviedo, Segovia, Siena and Accra), as well as the multi-site and unique programs offered by GEO. Program Coordinators for each site will be on hand to answer questions, and the site directors from these locations will also be available virtually via Zoom. Other sessions will be offered on GEO scholarships and faculty-led program development grants and mini-grants for staff site visits, as well as building customized programs with GEO. Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear from the GEO Risk Management Officer and Billing Coordinator, as well as meet other key staff in the office. We will also be feeding you breakfast and lunch!

Why Do This?

As GEO continues to grow and expand its programs and support services, we want to give regular opportunities to staff and administrators at our partner institutions to keep up with all of our programming options, scholarships, and professional development opportunities. While our institutional relations team brings this information to our partners on the road, sometimes it’s best to go straight to the source! We hope that inviting you to our home offices will give you a greater understanding of what GEO can offer, who our staff are, and who you can turn to when you have questions.

What Does It Cost?

The Summit has no cost. If you choose to park on-campus, there are several pay-to-park options that are around $12 for the full day. You can choose to park farther away and walk to campus or use the EMX park & ride option for free also. Upon RSVP, you will be provided with parking options and costs.

When and Where Is It Again?

The Summit will take place on Monday, June 24, from 9am-3:30pm on the University of Oregon campus in the GEO offices in Oregon Hall 300W. A map will be provided upon RSVP.
