Really excited to finally find a social media platform that is not polluted by ads, plagued by false identities and coats and coats of fluffy sugar. Welcome ello.
It is all about the content. Simplistic. Honest. Real. Playful yet mischievous and mysterious. The site is very intriguing with subtle innuendos to counter-culture, contemporary artistic expression and a sort of “disobedient” persona. And not only that but it combines that simplicity with great design and an emphasis on simple content….we’re talking pictures and text here, people. What? You mean no more invites to Farmville?
Update (August 2015) – Deleted my profile. Ello is a great concept but the problem with social media is that there are just way too many platforms out there in the cyberscape. I recently discovered Hootsuite which allows you to track (up to three) social media profiles for free. You can also create and schedule posts across these platforms. Unfortunately for apps like Ello, which have a lot of potential, I just don’t have the time and energy to commit (and it won’t sync up with Hoot). When it comes to social media it really only pays off to use the platforms that the majority of others are connected to, so keeping up with current trends is important. It’s tough to be a little guy.
