Media, Marketing, & Communications II

My Learning Goals for this term are to learn how to create a marketing plan by building skills that help identify how to determine what should be in it, stages for rolling it out and how to determine the best strategy.  I would also like to learn how to create a long-term strategy for marketing and how to fit each smaller marketing plan into it.  Additionally, I think learning how to organize all of the information and assimilate it into one seamless plan that reaches people on a personal and sincere level while creating a community of patrons that are involved in the arts is a main goal for  me.  Having spent my last summer interviewing arts and culture organizations about their marketing strategies (or lack thereof) has peaked my interest in learning how to combine the quantitative (analytics, economics, etc) and qualitative data into cutting edge marketing efforts that are representative of an organization’s unique mission.

Reflection: I have a better understanding of the different types of marketing and how to determine which would be appropriate for an organization given the organization’s strengths and opportunities for growth.  I was able to look at a longer-term objective with the plan I created while considering my plan as the first of many that will follow it.  I do have a better understanding of integrating qualitative and quantitative information into  the decisions that inform a marketing strategy.  I also found HootSuit to be very interesting and useful.
