I am very excited to announce the establishment of the Moss-Greenspan-Hodder Endowment Fund. The fund will insure the preservation and continued use of the North Pacific Zooarchaeology Collection, which I’ve been building for >45 years. The fund’s name also honors two other women scientists who have made contributions to the collection on top of their illustrious careers: Ruth Greenspan and Jan Hodder. Ruth’s collections were made possible by Rick Minor and Kathryn Toepel of Heritage Research Associates. Jan’s collections reflect her work at the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology and also that of Mike Graybill of the South Slough Estuarine Reserve. Taken together the collections represent an invaluable resource for research and teaching, especially for zooarchaeologists. Gabriel Sanchez is the new Curator of Zooarchaeology and the fund will support graduate students in Anthropology (through the UO College of Arts and Sciences) working with Professor Sanchez.
