ELAN is pleased to welcome Evelyn Thorne, our Leadership team’s new Social Media Chair for the 2012/2013 academic year!
Eve Thorne is a creative leader, urban explorer, and community organizer. Her passions include public participation in the arts, arts accessibility, and community engagement. Eve’s hometown is the small city of Benicia settled in the Northeast Bay Area, though home-base is San Jose where she attended San Jose State University earning a degree in Creative Arts and a minor in Art History. She’s worked with the City of San Jose Public Art Department developing their system of information management, and as the Marketing and Education Intern for ZERO1: The Arts and Technology Network. As a social activist and environmentalist, she has held many leadership roles in marketing, outreach and event planning with various campus organizations including Students for Quality Education, SJSU Environmental Club and Q.T.I.P. (Queers Thoughtfully Interrupting Prejudice). Eve has spent the last year in Portland, Oregon where she ran a blog on free and cheap things to do in Portland called Portlandia of the Free. She is also a poet and posts a short poem a day on her MetaphorADay twitter site.
Eve is very excited to be a first year graduate student in the Arts Administration Program with an emphasis in Community Arts. Much like an arts organization, Eve has her own mission statement, which is to ‘inspire creativity in others’. She looks forward to working towards this mission with the ELAN team. Welcome, Evelyn!
