ELAN is pleased to welcome Danielle Walter, our Leadership team’s new Administrative Chair for the 2012/2013 academic year!
Danielle Walter was born and raised in Minneapolis, MN, but after nine years out west, Oregon feels like home. She holds a B.A. in studio art with a concentration in drawing from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, OR. Upon graduating, Danielle worked as an arts program intern at Portland Children’s Museum, which eventually led to her position as Art Studio Director at ChildRoots Center for Young Children. Since 2010, Danielle has worked as an Administrative Assistant for Holt International, a nonprofit organization that facilitates international adoption and international development. This summer at Americans for the Arts, Danielle is interning for the Animating Democracy Initiative, which supports artists and organizations using arts and culture as tool for community, civic, and social change. Danielle is working closely with Americans for the Arts to develop an Emerging Leader Pilot Program that would give national support to student-led professional development organizations within arts administration graduate programs.
Danielle will return to the University of Oregon this fall to complete her second year in the Arts & Administration Program with concentration in Community Arts. She plans to focus her research on the impact of artist collectives in transforming urban space and informing urban planning.
If Danielle was not pursuing her master’s degree in arts management, she would be studying urban vegetable gardens, alternative bookbinding, wilderness backpacking, long distance running, pie baking, and/or hip hop dancing. Welcome, Danielle!
