12/15/25 – 8/31/26 East Campus Road Closures and Impacts Advisory

UPDATE 2/5/26:

East 17th Avenue Impact Updates:

  • East 17th Avenue between Agate Street and Columbia Alley will be impacted 1/23/26 – 2/25/26
  • Columbia Alley will be regraded on 2/6/26
  • Agate Hall Parking
    • 2/9/26 – 2/13/26 North Entrance to parking lot will be closed
    • South Entrance off Columbia Alley will remain open
    • The best option to access the parking lot will be coming from East 19th Avenue because access off East 17th Avenue will be intermittently closed to transfer materials from the laydown area to the site. A flagger will divert traffic to East 19th Avenue South Columbia Alley entrance. These measures are meant to control traffic safety around our larger equipment.
    • 3 parking spots will be used by the project
  • Fire Station Parking
    • 2/16 – 2/20 the Fire Station parking will be impacted and 6 spots in the Agate lot will be reserved for the fire station.

UPDATE 12/29/25:
The previous schedule and map have been replaced.  Please note the revised dates and map here.

  • January 2026 – February:  There will be one lane traffic on Agate Street at 17th Avenue.  The work will be done in multiple phases so that activities will never fully close Agate Street or eliminate local traffic access
  • February 2026 – March 2026:  17th Avenue will have periodic closures in multiple phases. Access to the parking areas will be maintained, use of detours to reach parking areas will be needed at times.
  • March 2026 – April 2026:  Columbia Street from 17th Avenue to the south end of the Central Kitchen will have street work done in small sections on the west side of the street to allow for local one-way traffic with the support of flaggers and regular back filling.
  • Summer 2026:  17th Avenue west of Moss Street will be completely closed at times between Agate and Columbia Streets.  Local traffic will still be able to access Columbia Street north and south of 17th Avenue from the east.

The image below contains highlights that show different areas of work and what month those activities are expected to be started and completed.

Revised map from 12/29/25 for work on E 17th Ave and Columbia Street 12/15/25 - 8/31/26

Begin:  Monday, December 15, 2025

End:      Monday, August 31, 2026

Building(s) or Area(s) Affected:  East 17th Avenue between Moss Street and Agate Street plus Columbia Street south of East 17th Avenue

Scope:  A privately engineered public improvement project coordinated with the City of Eugene to install new utilities will require a series of temporary road closures.  Timelines for these closures are subject to change due to unpredictable material delivery dates, inclement weather, efforts to mitigate traffic impacts, and the completion of preceding phases of the project on time.

Residences and driveways will be accessible throughout the work from at least one direction, and flaggers will be in the area to assist directing traffic.

Services Impacted:  Work will progress through the highlighted area depicted on the attached map.  Streets will be back filled regularly and plated to keep the public roads open as much as possible.

The yellow highlighted area is the initial area to be impacted starting in December and running through February, and the red dotted area shows the entire project area that will be impacted.

  • December 15, 2025 – mid-February 2026:  17th Avenue will have periodic closures east of Columbia Street.  Local traffic will still be able to use Columbia Street north and south of 17th Avenue with access to 17th Avenue from Agate Street.
  • January 2026 – February 2026:  Columbia Street from 17th Avenue to the south end of the Central Kitchen will have street work done in small sections on the west side of the street to allow for local one-way traffic with the support of flaggers and regular back filling.
  • Spring 2026:  17th Avenue west of Moss Street will be completely closed at times between Agate and Columbia Streets.  Local traffic will still be able to access Columbia Street north and south of 17th Avenue from the east.
  • Summer 2026:  There will be one lane traffic on Agate Street at 17th Avenue.  The work will be done in 3-4 phases so that activities will never fully close Agate Street or eliminate local traffic access.

Updates for the Spring and Summer work will be published when dates are confirmed.
