XPENG Motors, a leading Chinese electric vehicle company, recently announced that Dr. Brian Gu has been appointed as Vice Chairman and President.

Dr. Gu graduated from the University of Oregon in 1993 with a degree in Chemistry.

Alumna Caitlyn Wong, Class of ’17, Raises $37K to Fight Childhood Cancer

Photo: Caitlyn WongUO Chemistry and Biochemistry alum Caitlyn Wong recently raised $37,000 to benefit assist St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a nonprofit that raises money for childhood cancer research and awareness.

Caitlyn graduated with a B.S. in Biochemistry in 2017, and plans to pursue a medical career.

Dennis and Janet Beetham Establish Grad Fellowship in Honor of Prof. John Keana

To honor his former mentor, Chemistry alum Dennis Beetham and his wife, Janet, have donated $1 million to the University of Oregon to launch the John Keana Graduate Student Fellowship Fund.

Mr. Beetham, one of the first students to do research in the Keana lab, received his Masters in Chemistry from the UO in 1967

UO Chemistry and Biochemistry alum Boaz P. Levi popped up in our news feed recently!

Dr. Levi received his B.S. in biochemistry from the UO, and did his undergraduate research in Tom Steven’s lab. He went on to earn a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Stanford University.

He is currently an assistant investigator in Applied Genomics at the Allen Institute for Brain Science.

The Skanner News interviewed University of Oregon alum Ann Oluloro as she is preparing to graduate from OHSU and begin a residency in a Buffalo. Ann earned her B.S. degree from the UO in 2012 with a double-major in biochemistry and biology, and a minor in business administration.
