Choose whether you want to add a new blog Post (viewed in chronological order) or a Page which will persist in the site menu. Keep posted graphics under 1MB for quicker downloads. For an quick overview, post a series of images (JPG, .GIF or .PNG format); small versions can be linked the the original files.
PDF files are good for showing vector drawings and making text legible. Use Adobe Acrobat Pro to consolidate the pages into one document and compress it. (In Adobe Acrobat 9, “Document menu > Insert Pages” and “Advanced menu > Optimize PDF” or in Acrobat X, Save as Optimized.) Below shows how to upload a PDF with a linked image. See the WordPress Codex for a detailed tutorial on how to add images to your posts.
1. Go to the Dashboard
2. Go to the Page or Post that you want to edit, put your cursor where the image will go
3. Drag and Drop images, PDF files, etc.
4. Copy URL of PDF or other file that doesn’t display
5. Insert image with link to URL of PDF file (paste it in)
Great tutorial! I found it very helpful for optimizing PDFs. By the way, I recently used this technique to upload a PDF with illustrations of products available at Monkey Mart. It worked like a charm! Thanks for sharing this valuable information.
