CONSIDERATIONS:

ORGANIZATION:

The organization of my buildings are reacting with each special active points in neighborhood areas.  These 3 part of entity are spreading towards the most important area nearby and showing the language of welcoming by decreasing its height or open up its lower level facade.

Spatial hierarchy of my buildings formed by requirement of sunlight. South part are lower than north ones to leave more sunlight for them. Also the  hierarchy is shown by order of 9developing the program. Small parts are built first to gain more money and fame to start the future phases.

 

NATURE:

The buildings are combined by several court yards to receive more solar resources and cross ventilation. Water ponds are placed in center of park to collect rain water form roof top and connecting with underground water. Vegetation will be plant into the ponds, say elephant grasses, to clean and reuses the water. Urban farming will also taken place here in the park and roof top.

 

 

EXPERIENCE:

People will feel relax in the building because of the natural surroundings. Also the inside decoration will be wood so people will feel welcoming here. For the maker space, the tone will be cold will little warm color by using Corten Steel and concrete.

 

MATERIAL TECTONICS:

The building will be built be Glass fabric Reinforced Concrete with steel column to form the soft and fluent shape.  Wood structure will be used under glass connections to give a structural beauty to the project.

 

FACADE: The building acts as a land mark seen from the east side because it is the gate of people entering Portland  city area. On the North and west side, 1st floor was raised to form a corridor welcoming people to go inside. Circulation of pedestrian and Vehicles are separate into different levels. Parking and decking are placed underground.

After this midterm,  I will focus on the maker space part and try to make the program more practical, and design into detail and consider for the use of inner space and place furniture inside.
