Progress after Mid-review I
The two links above are the material shown at the Mid-review.
The review went well and I gain a lot of knowledge on how to refine and approach the design project more thoughtfully.
The critics suggested a few strong point:
- Combine the two plans into one. Instead of spending time explaining 2040 GL plan, focus more on the 2050 site analyze.
- Say what you know, and the logic needs to be clear — Talk about things that you have full control over at your site, not those that belongs to greater urban plan like the sewerage system and such.
- Instead of build on the open ground, think about reusing the existing.
- Traffic Control, how does activities develop around the traffic lines?
- Relationship of buildings, and how the connection among them is re-enforced.
- Connection to the Water Front Loop and the Green Loop.
those suggestions were very crucial on the improvement of my overall urban plan. I choose to approach the site this way so I can find the spirit and the texture of the site. However, I over looked much details on the site analyze, that will be the next step I am going after.
- Refine the two plans and combine them into one.
- Adding structures to support the parking.
- Refine the public green ways that connects each building.
- Refine the logic behind the development of the structures along with the GL plan.
- Define the important entrance and direction of the Main building.
- Character of the building (Market Hall), texture, material, structure.
- Landmark for way finding, the district hall will be included as the landmark of the district.
These are the refinements I am going to do for the next mid-review.
